Yep magic carpet ride. I thinking the cables are going to black but that's a vanity thing.

Looking south... by the time we reach the solstice the sun pretty much rises and sets in the south.
Taken at 1pm today... :) http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/rando...thaw%20(2).JPG Sometimes you have to brush the snow off the bikes too... http://www.ravingbikefiend.com/bikep...ikes%20(2).JPG On the other hand... it is 37F and I am thinking of wearing shorts and sandals. |
Speaking of Snow

First snowshoe of the season on some fresh 10-12 inches :) Kind of heavy dense snow, but beggers can't be choosers! Hopefully many more to come.
First car in the unplowed lot and it's almost noon. Wow! http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps5ff5304b.jpg First tracks http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps97098dd2.jpg My lady using my Dion 121 running snowshoes http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps80f461cb.jpg I love jumping on and off of things http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ps65689ce7.jpg |

My wife made these. The shortbread I made didn't turn out as photogenic.

Here is a picture of My Lovely Wife™ in her PJ's doing her morning yoga. My greyhound is in the foreground, doing her usual indoor pose. Our grand-dog (daughter's dog) is joining my wife, imitating her as well as she can. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-r...0/IMG_2461.JPG |

Seriously? I don't miss all that much about the states and the beer is pretty high up on the list of things I don't miss.
Still, us Dutchies have to bow down to our Belgian and German friends when it comes to brewing. Here's a nice post-ride pic with some local trappist in Belgium, sorry for the repost in this thread. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8526/8...57d5d56c_b.jpg Untitled by ctjr, on Flickr |

The best lager I ever had was in Zurich. But I usually prefer IPA or similar, and there are many great local breweries in the US producing good stuff. Heineken? I'll pass, thank you, meaning no disrespect to the folks who make it, of course.

To put the Heineken thing in perspective: Folks pay top dollar for Budweiser in Panama. lol
If you haven't visited the US in the past 5 years, craft beer has taken over. Even gas stations have a craft beer section now. |

Sorry I have no Every Day Pics of beer to offer.
Alas, I have never been to Amsterdam. Maybe one day. I've had beer in Milan, it was nothing special. The ale from an inn somewhere between London and Oxford was great. In the old days, which is to say, oh, before 1965 there were local breweries throughout the US. They were not, AFAIK, specialty breweries, but rather preferred a large share of the local "ordinary beer" market. My home town had Richbrau, for example. I doubt anyone missed it when it disappeared. The recent revival of local breweries is a throwback, but different in that now they go for specialization to distinguish themselves from the big-red/green/blue-can guys. |
This came into the Co-op this week. It made me think of Sixty-Fiver
