I've been wanting an excuse to visit a relatively new shop in my area, Pursuit Bicycles, which has a really nice collection of NOS and lightly used vintage bikes, as well as some new models. (The pretense was taking in my Merlin in to have the proprietary pressed BB overhauled. The owner/mechanic was a cool dude. Unfortunately, he felt that I would be better served by taking it to a Merlin dealer than had the proper Merlin tools or adequate press which he did not have. I actually appreciated this, instead of him just whacking away at it and potentially doing harm to my prized frame.) They have one of the largest collections of 3Rensho frames around. There were at least half a dozen NOS 3Rensho frames hanging from the rafters plus another half dozen 3Rensho bikes scattered around the shop. Not to mention Nagasawa's, Chesini, Colnago, Look, etc. Oh and just a ho-hum Cinelli Laser pursuit bike. I don't spend much time at the LBS, but I'm going to have to come up with another excuse for going back, maybe just for more and better photos...

Had a great weekend over at Bob Freeman's place in North Bend, first for his Vintage Bike Rally on Saturday and the Snoqualmie Valley Trail ride on Sunday. I neglected to bring my camera on Saturday, but fixed that on Sunday. First couple of real rides for over 3 months - went flawlessly; thanks for all the virtual high-fives recently on this thread because I think they helped!
Some pics from the SVT ride follow. Matt (northbend) and another rider on the SVT: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3674/...8934d3e6_b.jpg The group early on in the ride - pavement in North Bend: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3729/...d475fa59_b.jpg Much of the ride is under this canopy. We had beautiful weather all day: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3686/...df640e01_b.jpg Smooth enough for no-hands riding - but be vigilant! https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3679/...8c8960f3_b.jpg Sandy's Espresso, where we stopped in Carnation - our turnaround point: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3761/...a5d684b4_b.jpg Snoqualmie River with Mount Si in the background: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3763/...e200e622_b.jpg Group shot: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3704/...a3415235_b.jpg Thomas arrives in Snoqualmie: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3732/...a25ffd8f_b.jpg Arriving back in North Bend at the conclusion of the ride: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3779/...2b72c224_b.jpg A fun day out, and it was nice to get 60 miles in a successive days - with no discernable issues - after my 3+ month layoff. Sweet! The Vintage Bike Rally the previous day was really cool - Alex Moll and northbend were both there and got lots of pics, so I hope they'll share some of those in the coming days. Nice to see you guys again! DD |
^Looks like a fantastic weekend of riding! Great pics, DD!

Drillium Dude is back in the saddle! Glad to hear it; you've been unusually quiet for awhile.
Now get your butt out here to Port Angeles and climb up to Hurricane Ridge with me. (My knee is almost ready to attempt it again.) :) |
Suddenly got the urge to make another cycling cap. Made the grey one a couple years ago from a thrift store sportcoat, made the plaid one today from an old western shirt, both 100% wool. Got a little sloppy with the stitching, but still satisfied with the result. The brims came from quart size yogurt containers.

Went out crabbing with Alex Moll, his pop and two boys. 19 Dungeness crabs were our reward. Yum!

It's been one crazy and frantic spring and summer coaching my daughter in softball. She was on our local all star team which ran a win streak of 5 games this past weekend to win the PNW Babe Ruth Regional 10u tournament. To make it even better my daughter was the tourney MVP and had the most unbelievable game I think I've ever seen in youth sports in the championship yesterday. Proud dad and coach.
Here she is kissing the trophy and hamming it up. http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m...a%20trophy.jpg |
