We've planted milkweed in our front garden, but haven't seen a monarch in quite some time. :(

Roadside repairs: ten miles out on my Vagabond, I shifted into the big ring for a long downhill stretch, and the FD cable pulled loose! Some moron (me) didn't tighten the screw on that ARx FD well enough on installation a couple weeks ago. Rummaging through my handlebar bag (well stocked with spares, food & water) yielded no tools to tighten it back up. I was thinking about calling my daughter, whose car happened to have a bike rack on it that day, until I remembered I was still carrying her spare car key, which was thin enough to act as a screwdriver on this particular bolt.

This spiders been studying my bike wheels.

Plant a butterfly bush or meadow blazing star (Liatris ligulistylis). My sweetie captured these videos today. One is a male monarch, the other a hummingbird moth.

Saw a Viceroy in the yard today. No Monarchs yet.

We are surrounded by a sea of flowers here, many are natural and we have seen a lot more Monarchs working the flowerbeds.

The UP is some pretty remote territory and it provides for a nice environment for all kinds of critters.

Have yet to hear any of the wolves which have been sighted here along with cougars, bears, and abundant numbers of deer and wild turkey, just to name a few.

There is also a bald eagle that patrols the beach here, i hope to shoot him too.

On Maui for 2 weeks and picked up the modern ride for the next week - I've never ridden carbon before so we'll see, let alone done the Shimano brifter thing. Wish they didn't have such a huge dork disc on it. First thing I noticed is the handlebar being definitely wider than my vintage rides so it remains to be seen how my repaired shoulder does with that angle.

Day 1 was yesterday and it was a bummer for my wife when she and several others got taken out by a wave as the winds suddenly kicked up. Slammed her into the ground and resulted in a grade 1 shoulder separation and hairline fracture to the clavicle at the sternum. She'll be laying low for a few days and is upset she can't do the zip lining anymore.
