Brooks saddle squeaks

I have been having trouble falling in love with my Brooks Swift. Besides the comfort issues, I have noticed a very pronounced squeak coming from the seat's frame while pedaling. Has anyone else experienced this?

soak it in a bucket of motor oil. Jest kidding. I think there was a thread on this subject several weeks ago. Though I hate to recommend the awful search function on this site to anyone, have you tried a search of the archives? Seems to me it was about a month ago, or so.

I have owned several bikes fitted with several different Brooks models and not a peep out of any one of them. In fact, I just installed this NOS 1984 Brooks Pro on my Torpado a couple of days ago, and it too is peep-less...

Check to ensure that the saddle rails fit into clean post grooves and don't hesitate to clean a lightly lubricate an indexed alloy seat post. Ensure also that the post itself is clean and fitting into a clean cavity. Just a small amount of dirt can allow noise gremlins a chance to breed.

I think?

Which saddle do you have? The general fix is to make sure all your bolts and rivets are snug, then slick the offending area up with a bit of Proofide.

I've had several leather saddles afflicted with the squeak demon. Nothing I did, and I tried the usual methods, ever fixed them permanently or even decently long enough, like a couple of months.

Some of them just have the gift, I guess.

Supafast213, unrelated question, what kind of stem do you have on your bike? I really like it.

Thanks for the reply's guys. I think I will inspect and clean the seat clamp (it's kind of cheap on the Fuji).
Elguicho, the stem is from Origin 8. I forget the exact name but it's 130mm. My LBS got it from one of the bike bike shop distributors in one day.
Here's a close up from the day it was installed.

I just got a new B72. It squeaks just like a horse saddle. Such is leather. I dig it.

Known issue with almost all Leather saddles.
Here's a fix from the wayback machine.
Cut 2 small (1'x1') pieces of an old tube and gently pry up the
leather from the corner of the cantle. Put a piece of tubing
between the end of the cantle and the leather on each
corner and you should be good to go.

I applied penetrating lube to all of the metal on metal sections under the seat. That got rid of most of the squeak. I'll try the tube idea tonight.

It's from the Pro-Pulsion series. Nice stems for sure. And affordable, too.

And what is your avatar? I can hardly tell what it is. Resembles a woman though.

It's just some random pic I found on the interweb. It's a chick on a bike with no pants.....classy.

If the squeek is coming from the front bolt tensioner, you can drip some oil or lube on all the parts that can move and that will help.

Grease bolts / nuts. Tighten bolts. If the rails still squeak (i.e. it won't tighten enough to the clamp), a drip or two of oil on the rails.

Leather will make noise, because it is leather - live with this one. Metal bits, however, can be coaxed into silence.
