Ever seen lugs like this before?

From a circa 1940s (my best guess) track bicycle. Anyone have any identity ideas?

Do they say "CMC" or do you think it's just a design? Cool.

It sure seems like they say C M C to me. Coogling has come up empty on that, though.

And embankmentlb - I played baseball against Roswell in high school; I'm pretty sure any old bike left there would've been filed down to make some sort of shank

I was thinking CMCO, cuz who wants to braze or glue a little middle-of-the-O on there.

Unfortunately I get no good results for that name either.

Anticipating more pics, and a cleanup? Awesome indeed.

I go along with CMCO but I don't know anything about it.

Very cool at any rate.

Tell us about the components, if any, that're on there. Crank, BB, seat post, whatever.

The symbols, letters whatever they are are pointing in different directions on each side of the bike. Shouldn't they be reading the same way on each side of the bike? For instance, if it is cmc, u3u, cwc or what ever it is, shouldn't it be consistent on each side as well as up and down?

Well, there is one way of looking at it so that they're all reading the same way : aft-to-fore.

Yeah, that's why so many of us are suggesting cmco or, more specifically,

It could be C____ Motorcycle Company, since many bike companies also made motorcycles (and vice versa) back in the day.

I think it is not letters, just a pattern. The reason I think this is that on the down tube shot you have to read from bottom to top in order to squeeze CMC out of it. and the C is reversed if you try to read it as CWC.
