1) air pressure gets checked every time I ride.
2) Any of the modern chain lubes works fine, mine gets a heavy shot every 300 miles and a subsequent thorough wipe down with a terry towel. Get off the crud, keep the side plates lubricated, and your chain will last a long time.
3) no idea. Any/all of my bikes can be ridden for 100+ miles at a go.

We're in danger of getting to page 2 again.
Getting there. Both DT cable stops installed, waiting on a 28.6 FD clamp adapter for the FD, then close to done. I'd like a different saddle.
I wasn't loving the yellow, and needed it for the bike above, as well as the saddle. I do like the Prologo saddle and the red wrap.
A Dura Ace seatpost is allegedly en route. I will see how I like it compared to the highly polished one here.

Hey y'all. I have a couple of questions.
1. If you bike everyday, do you air up your tires each day?
I air up each time I ride. However I noticed there is still a lot of air pressure reading on the gauge. Not sure if airing up again is necessary.
2. What do you use to lube your chain?
When I would wash my bike back in the day, I would spray wd40 on the chain and scrub chain with a rag then spray again with wd40. However recently I noticed my MV chain is squeaking. It's the original left out in the weather for dead chain that I soaked and cleaned with paint thinner. Not sure what to lube it with from scratch. Appearantlly wd40 is not enough.
3. What is an endurance geometry bike?
I do not know.
Those are the questions and reasons I want to know.
Thanks guys. Hopefully posting a different Ironman soon.

Yes , I air up each time , because I air down after a ride , another P.B. ism.
For chain lube It's Park Tool synthetic blend w/ PTFE . I don't know if it's better than anything else , but I do know WD 40 should not be used as a lube . WD is great for cleaning , but then it's still there so I would use something like Acetone to wash the WD , let dry and then your favorite lube . Sorry Tex .
I have no Idea how to answer #3 oh I don't know maybe a Dave Scott Ironman .
Waiting for the new IM Tex . Your friend Mark .

Thanks for the input. You guys are the best and the craziest.
As I mentioned before I cleaned my chain with wd40 and then sprayed it with wd40 after. But this time the chain was soaked and cleaned in paint thinner. My belief is in previous years because I never cleaned it with paint thinner, when I used WD 40 the original oil some how stayed, And I never had a squeaky problem.
Problem solved though. I didn't have any chain lube so I cleaned the chain and sprayed it with white lithium grease. RT had suggested using white lightning chain lube which btw they sell at walmart, (it reminded me I had some white lithium) but we were going on a family ride which means pulling the baby trailer with the MV and it was handy. We'll see how long it last and how much dirt it attracts.
I basically ride every other day and although the air pressure gauge reads pretty close to what it initially read, I'll continue topping off. Curiously,I used to ride my bike m-f and HAD to air up everyday, maybe better tubes nowadays?
Back in the 80s when I first started riding I kept every Single part I ever replaced. Saddles, wheels, deraileurs, everything. In the 90s I was moving to an apt with no storage and a friend said we could keep some of our stuff in a storage unit and they lost their lease and I lost all my stuff. Only a few things left that I've managed to hold on to.
Ok guys here's another one. What is the oldest item you originally purchased (not ebay period correct) you use on your Ironman? I only have a few: this saddle bag I think it's a cannondale I clipped off the tag in 1986 when I purchased it. I'll post the others later. Ok y'alls turn.

I doubt if anything I've put on an Ironman was much older, in any way, than the Ironman it went on. Like you, I probably put a bag on one that was much older. I have a Cannondale tubular bag with an extra compartment that I like, and I think I've owned it since about 1985. So that would be the oldest thing, I suppose.

I had shoes, helmet and lots of other stuff. As every year I bought new matching gear for the season. 1st year was Yellow,2ndblue,3rd red,4th black, 5th (red white and blue) and 6th bright barney purple. I know crazy. Mostly sidi shoes and some lakes.
Anyway here's about all that's left bought about 29 or 30 yrs ago.

I used my Scott Tinley Tri-shorts, a wonderful USA made cotton Lycra product when on my Centurion. I had a blue pair. They were cut off my body when I was attacked by pit bulls resulting in a bad fall and a broken femur. I protested loudly and all I got was a fire department tee shirt in trade. I was most unhappy.

Oldest item , ok that's a good one . Back in the late 70's I purchased a pair of Medalist shoes from REI (all leather and made in Holland) . For some reason I hung onto them all this time . Now that I'm a confirmed C&V type I use them on the Ironman .
PS guys , some dog owners are morons .

I'd be shootin' me some pit bulls. I know it's off-topic, but I get chased regularly by 3 at one house on a ride I do about once a week. They've attacked us in a group once or twice, as well. Once they come into the road, they're fair game. I simply stopped and waited for the owner to come out. I told him if the dogs come out again, and attack me on the public highway, I will shoot them as a hazard. He said "they're just doing their job." I told him "and I'll just be doing mine, go ahead and call the sheriff now if you want." I haven't seen those dogs since. However, if I do, I will probably shoot them. I'm not planning on going down on the road with 3 pits, while I'm still clipped in. Nope. Not gonna happen. One of them hit my crankset with his head, and it moved the bike a few inches to the L. My foot was sore for a couple of days. I'll say this for them, they can keep up for about 1/8 mile.
My Centurion Prestige on a quick run, my wife chasing me:

I had a hill I nicknamed "dog hill". I could never outrun those dogs. One time I didnt have to. Medium sized dogs, I snap kicked one in the chops and down he went tumbling in a ball. Second one, bulleseye. Another hilarious roller. The third got smart.

That is a great picture. It made me stop and think, it's amazing what a large proportion of the US looks like this. The midwest, Upstate New York, East Washington state, Texas - what a big country.
Edit: and now I've got that song in my head. In a big country dreams stay with you

Picked up another IM today -- this time in Red/White.. Oddly enough, this bike came with a full Shimano 600 setup and a gold wheelset which I didnt think was stock? My other 2 IM's have the Shimano 105 setup.. Anyways, scored this bike for $120 -- from what i can tell, the tires are shot and the seat is a little blah but thats about it!
The chain was super rusty so I'd thought id try soaking it in vinegar overnight just as a test..
Better pics tomorrow

My belief is that the early 86 classics came with those araya "goldilocks" wheels. Your serial number located on the underside of the bb probably starts with n5. The saddle is not stock. The brake levers appear to be stock.
Very very nice, great job on acquisition. And here some people aren't even lucky enough to own one.
