Bikes: specialized s works stump jumper (old but a goodie) and a old Phillipe road bike (12 speed shifters on the downtube)

Not sure if its classic or vintage....but its old

Hi Everyone,

Some one asked me to post a picture of my old road bike I am riding. I love my old bike. I have had it for more than 10 years. I have not been riding her for almost 10 years.

I took the pic with my iPhone so the pic may not be the greatest.

It is an old Philippe. It has a pearl/powder coat on the main triangle with the polished fork and rear triangle. It has a 53/39 upfront and 11-24 in the rear. Dura-ace front and Sante rear derailleur.

If you zoom in you will see I did a really bad job attempting to wrap the bars. It was my first attempt.

How did you do that? What did I do wrong?

I picked this bike up from my friends old man many many years ago. He was no longer riding it. He did not know much about it. He had bought it years before then. What I have found out so far is that there was a small shop in France. My understanding so far is that the father hand made all the original steel bikes. There is an old thread from BF: https://www.bikeforums.net/archive/in.../t-463055.html

The tubing on my bike is Colulmbus SLX. I replaced the stem as I am not as young and wanted to be more upright. Kind of detracts from the looks but it sure is comfortable to ride.

I had a Schwinn Paramount made of SLX tubing that sold to my brother because it was a bit too big for me. But I recently got a ride on it again and I have to say for ride quality it really is top notch. I still ride steel but my current bikes are all of modern OS tubing. Lighter and stiffer, but you do loose some of that smoothness.

Come on! Not many of us speak Latin anymore...:-( That said, I agree. What nice bike and let's see some picturum addendum.
