Apply some of the information contained in How Old Is My Bike? and you should come pretty close to identifying the vintage.

That serial number is not a one used on a Chicago-built bike. Schwinn Cruisers were made all over the place (USA, China, Taiwan, Hungary). Post a picture and maybe someone here can ballpark the year by color and decals.
Do a search for Schwinn catalogs online. A few enthusiasts have catalog pages scanned and posted on their sites.
