Everything was great!

I was finishing up my test run of the wife's bike when I decided to really put the bike to the test. I was climbing out of the saddle pumping it hard up the little hill on my road. I was getting jazzed that the bike was really handling so well and really responding.

I was passing my son's friend's house when I felt the chain slip Then everything went in slow motion. I felt the front cross up, then as the tire was skidding sideways up the hill I heard the air whoosh out of the tire which caused me to flip over the bars somehow rolling with the bike still in hand. As I my glasses skidded across the road I heard my neighbors exclamations as they ran towards me. I hop up as I am seeing stars and take a quick inventory and assessment of my limbs. Nothing broken, just a skinned elbow and knee. Strangely, I developed a blood blister on my thumb just outside of my nail and tweaked my wrist. Glasses survived too!

The bike is ok except the tire. As I did the walk of shame back towards the house I tried to piece everything together. I thought the chain broke initially, but it must have slipped off the chain ring. I didn't hear any rubbing from the front derailleur but something must has made the chain slip. I parked the bike in the garage and haven't looked at it since

Glad you are ok.

No worries, everyone has done it a time or two.

I'm glad you were not hurt seriously even if they weren't.

Chain loose, perhaps the rear lugs not as tight as you thought? Glad you survived more or less unscathed.

Thanks for the condolence. My wrist is really stiff today. My wife looked at it (nurse) and said to ice it and keep it elevated.

Thanks for the tip David, I am going to take a good look it today. I'm glad it let go on me and not my wife.
