Suntour DR date code question...

I've got a discussion buried over in the thread linked below. Brought it up new for some visibility. Can anyone shed some light on the subject?

Bikes: 86 Katakura Silk, 87 Prologue X2, 88 Cimarron LE, 1975 Sekai 4000 Professional, 73 Paramount, plus more

Yep, WH it is (August 1980). I would assume your bike is a 1981 model. If you are looking for verification, check other items on the bike: seat post, stem, brake calipers, fork (steering tube) almost always have date codes. I've also found them on hubs, freewheels, QR, shift levers, brake levers, and even occasionally on handlebars. Most of the Japanese made parts had codes.
