Bikes: enough bikes to qualify for Hoarders......

double take

Or my new to me Mikkelson. I bought this yesterday from the original owner, built around 1990 Bernie actually painted this one his self.
In all it's fillet brazed majesty:

and when you pass by going the other way..

Oh, I was looking at that frame, too! Looks nice to me. Cool seat cluster & mix of lugs & fillet brazing. What type of dropouts did he use? Is that a Cinelli fork crown?

Glad you got a nice frame - glad you didn't have to deal with Bernie's wife.

It's a shame that he's sick and she takes care of his secretary businesses, because she's the reason I'll never recommend anyone go to Mikkelsen.

Sweet frame, though. He does great work.

I am not sure what the crown is, it is not marked. The dropouts and tubing are Columbus, not sure which one though, steer tube is rifled deeply so tsx maybe? The inside of the bb shell is a work of art no gaps, no tubes proud into the shell. I can hardly wait to take it for a spin.

I've thought of growing a beard on one side of my face. This is a little more, uh, practical?

Seriously, though, that's a delicious looking bike.

The fork crown looks to be a Cinelli CCA fork crown. Probably not too uncommon. I only recognized it because I think it's a match to what I have on my Look.

I have no idea what your experience was with Mrs. Mikkelson, but I spoke with her on the phone a couple times. Inquired about replacing a steerer tube (which I never did) and she was quite pleasant and helpful enough.

Interesting, because she called me a *****exual slur, a mentally disabled person, and a pot head all in a single call.

No kidding! Things would have to go seriously bad for most people to talk to someone like that.

As to politic, I will just say Bernie and his wife would fit in Arizona better than the East Bay and leave it at that...

Nice frame!

I had Bernie replace the TT on my Team Miyata and both he and his wife were a joy to deal with.

back when delivery trucks (rather than horse drawn wagons) were new some companies used to paint like that so people thought they had twice as many trucks and business.

I know nothing about the bike but it looks very nice. what is the tubing?
