Winter project/ Italian immersion. Thanks to 3alarmer for help in the delivery of this disassembled Super into my possession.
Frame, wheel set, and components donated to the localbike kitchen and then purchased by me (always willing to give a hand to the local non-profits).
77 or 78?
Interesting triple will return to a double. Every part will get some love. Rust to deal with. On the road by spring.

Just arrived from the Netherlands. I believe 1977 or 78 Super. I plan on assembling with Campagnolo NR. My goal is to find a Pantographed Crank set, Stem, and Seatpost. May need to take some time. I currently have the NR Derailluers, Cinelli leather saddle and Ambrosio Extra Rims with Campy hubs. Any suggestions or opinions on the building up are welcomed.

If I may make a small suggestion, I would route the brake housings behind the bars vs in front.
As far as the tires go, look for a recent thread on Veloflex Master 23 tires.
Excellent tires for your beautiful Colnago.

Very nice Colnago you have there.
I am partial to blue Supers, having owned a couple.
One can always ride a new build and make some adjustments if needed.
I would just go enjoy that beauty.

When the Katz brothers at Turin in Chicago started importing Colnagos in the early 70's they called that purplish blue the house color. Who knows? Ed

Not quite finished but this is my Saronni inspired 1982 Colnago Mexico. I have tried to build this frame up with similar kit to the Saronni bike on display at Ernesto Colnago's headquarters. This frame is an early Colnago Mexico built in 1982 and not the Colnago Nuovo Mexico, crimped tubed frame used by Beppe Saronni to win the World Championship in 1982 and Giro d'Italia in 1983 that I has inspired my build.
This frame has been re-finished. The chrome has been re-done with over 40 hours of prep. and the metallic paint is new and a slightly lighter version of the famous 'Saronni' red. The chrome work is spectacular and much better than the photos portray. Beppe Saronni's Del Tongo team were quick to upgrade the decal set to include the world road race championship stripes that Beppe won in '82. A 'Cyclemondo' version of this decal set has been used to finish this frame (complete with Ernesto Colnago's signature not found on the original bike).
It is kitted out with a Campy 50th anniversary gruppo but I have changed the pedals to Super Record (Ti) track pedals with Binda straps like Saronni used. The 3TTT engraved stem and bar are like Saronni's. So too the TA alloy bottle cage but I am changing it to a white topped version soon. The saddle is a Concor Confort sitting on top of the 50th Ann. seat post that has been painted in the flutes in the Italian tricolours like the post in Saronni's bike. The seat cluster bolt is a nutted bolt like on Saronni's bike. Brake cable outers are Campy black versions and the handle bar tape is white cloth like the Saronni display bike. I have fitted a Campy 50th anniversary 6 speed freewheel to the 50th anniversary rear hub.
It is a 58cm c to c seat tube and a 57cm c to c top tube. All up it weighs 20 1/2 lb. which is quite light for this era. The Mexico's were built from thinner walled tubing as opposed to the Super's.
The ride displays typical 'Colnago' neutral qualities and it's light weight quite evident. I's just a joy to ride on a nice day and reinforces why I love bikes of this era.

I posted this elsewhere, however this is what I consider the Home thread for Colnago.

Your Orange Super looks to be very original Vonruden. The orange Silca pump is a nice touch. It definitely needs to be show in this 'home' thread.
edit: 3 rear brake cable guides on the top tube is an unusual feature of your frame.

I keep coming back to the board here to take a look at this beauty, as this one would be a grail find for me in this condition.
If it were a little larger, I would likely be dreaming up a "Big Time" deal for you Mr. Vonruden!
Really a fun bicycle though and I am certain you will give it a good home.
PS How are the tires, brake pads, bearings etc. on the bicycle?

The bike was very well taken care of and everything looks great. At this point, I think I am keeping the Colnago over the Cinelli. Tough choice.

Both are very nice.
Fwiw I would delay a decision as long as possible.
Take your time and enjoy both for as long as you can get away with it.
I have a sweet tooth for the Colnago brand, so I know what I would do if forced to choose.

1982 Colnago "Super 82" Columbus SL tubes, Campy Super/Nuovo Record mix, Mavic GP-4 tubular or Reflex SUP tubular rims (changes), Cinelli bar and stem. I bought this frame new in 1982 and built it with new components at that time. Never been dropped or ridden in salt or rain. Probably ridden about 10k miles.
