Please post your C&V Sport Touring Bikes.
We see lots of road bikes and touring bikes, but what about sport tourers? What is the history of the category? And photos appreciated

1983 Shogun 1500
It has 27" wheels with cushy tires, canti brakes and Deer Head components. The rear wheel is 40-spoke. However, the top tube is really short for a touring bike, which gives it a sportier feel. I actually had to give up on the fenders because of bad toe overlap. Also, since this photo I have switched to bar-end shifters.

I would venture to say that the majority of the bikes you see here have traditional sport-touring geometry.

that orange world voyageur is super deluxe. almost has a 80's bmx style to it with those tires. how wide are they? do you do jumps on it?

Classic and classy, Scott. That's such a good looking bicycle.
584x42. I dig the BMX style, but I never had one as a kid. Jumps? Not on purpose. 
No issues that I can see yet. The switch works just as claimed and it rolls super smooth when not engaged. It's heavy, though, as dynamos are.

The red bike behind the mtb frame is a C&V sport tourer frameset circa 1979 of unknown Japanese origin. In my possession since then.
Champion #2 tubing and 73/73 parallel angles. 27" wheels, minimal braze-ons.
It's outfitted with Campy Record and Ambrosio wheels, DA 7200 and corncob...more road than sports tourer. I am thinking of returning it to its sport tourer intentions. I have a nice old pair of 700C Sansin/Araya wheels with 28mm tires, a Nitto Rando bar plus shorter stem planned for it. It has normal reach and nutted Superbe Pro sidepulls, and there's enough drop for a 700C conversion.

Centurion Lemans RS with 3x7 "compact" RSX, eyelets, and clearance for fenders.
It's about as sport touring as I get, and I sold it. It's a friend's "hill country" bike.

The topic of this thread is sport-touring bikes. They are different than touring (read: loaded touring) bikes. Common traits of touring bikes include long chain stays, multiple mounting eyelets, cantilever brakes and often vertical dropouts.

Here's my '83 Trek 620. I'm sure it could handle light touring but only one eyelet in the back and no canti brakes. Hopefully I can do some bike camping when it gets warmer out.
