you got the builder right, the wheels right, the pedals right, and the component groupset right but i am afraid that the top tube will be shorter than i like. i wont complain though, i look forward to riding it come spring.

Stem bars post will likely be ritchey and/or 3T.
Hours, not a clue, but start to finish for Dave is about one week, one frame at a time, so there is a rough number for you.

WOW! I'm envious - i've often day dreamed about getting a Kirk built. However money doesn't allow this at the moment so i'll be watching your build and applauding from my chair here in the UK.

Off to do something other than just think about bikes, I'm actually going to get to ride one for more than 10mi for the first time in a few weeks. Darned weather and such has been getting in my way lately but the temps are starting to warm up and the sun is out. Time to ride.

I was going to ask why you went with the 5 o'clock brake routing on the top tube, but that seems to be the way most bikes in the Kirk gallery are setup.
How do you wrap your hand around the top tube when carrying the bike, or when position the cable when you put the bike in the cradles on a car carrier?

Truck bed + rack for front fork = no worries about car carrier. My Fuji has a similar brake cable routing, a couple rubber spacers and it's all good.

I don't want to start any debates about "best builders" here, but golly, Dave Kirk has to be right there with the finest.
Your project here has made me rethink a purchase from a noted Euro builder this winter.
I think I'll just keep saving my pocket change till I can order one of these.

For the Look Keos, I highly recommend the Keo 2 Max model. I had some. They are very light and have some of the silkiest bearings I have ever found. They look nice as well.
Be sure, however, to get the more recently made units. They redesigned the seals about a year into production because the old seals were too stiff and it would cause the pedals to hang. The second design never hangs, and is smoother out of the box than any of my SPD-SLs were. Just FYI.
This is what I would pick for color. I really like it. I like the first white/green as well, but white (as a main color) doesn't age as well and can look dated easily.
