Riding in the drops even! Her back might be more flexible than mine...

She is very funny in "Man on the Inside", a Netflix sitcom. I'm old enough to remember her from "All in the Family"; good to see her still getting work in Hollywood.

Looking pretty good for her age, I'm sure biking is a part of that. If it's any place with hills, I'm surprised she doesn't have lower gearing with a triple and/or larger low cogs. Whatever she's riding, it's definitely vintage, so perhaps of an era where only touring bikes had wide triples.

Her characters are pretty crazy in Five Easy Pieces and The Getaway. She tells some wild stories about McQueen and Peckinpah.

Is Sally Struthers' bike a Legnano?

Dang, good eye! I could not make out the writing and don't know the brand, but looking close now and knowing what I'm looking for, it looks like you might be right.

That sure looks like a tall frame for someone that is 5'1", unless those are not 700c wheels, but smaller.

The soles on her shoes are THICK so I suppose that helps with the fit.

Much respect to Sally for riding a ~60 y/o Legnano!

I think there's a bit more leg to her than one would expect for her height.
She's probably doing a slight hip roll with that much straight leg extension, as shown in the 2nd photo. I prefer a little tiny bit less straight leg, but that's just how I find a ride comfortable.

She sure did break a lot of ground in A.I.T.F., despite the comic intended/scripted over the top leftism.
Good on her to be still riding- there's hope for the rest of us, yet.

Behave. But it is not well-known that Dolly is 5' nothing.

I ride as tall a saddle as possible, straight leg at bottom as long as I don't need to rock my hips, which I read is bad, nor constantly extend my foot at the ankle. Straighter knee under power is easier on the knee by a lot, and I stand now when I need to mash.

President Carter's bike is a fully lugged frame and fork. The fork crown has plenty of Plains, GA dirt. He rode the bike often enough. Did he have to get secret service to ride along with him? I am thinking this picture was after his presidency.

Always.

I played at a charity event in Atlanta in the late 90's. Rosalynn Carter was one of the guests and she had a full Secret Service detail with her even then. They get 'em for life. Wonder if Jimmy made help build houses.

I've wondered what I'd do in the same situation, post presidency.

OOoo! Look at the handlebar/stem on Jimmy's bike, it's one of those triangulated heavy duty ones. That may identify the bike.

52/42 and no granny gear. Thumb shifters.

No braze-ons for the rear rack, it has rubber covered stainless steel P-clamps to the seat stays.

Well duh, white hat! That was practically a rule in Hollywood back then.
