Apologies if it was posted before. This was given to me through a friend of a friend who came across it while organizing a house...sort of neat...

No kidding. I had no idea.

sometimes, to dismount, I find myself bringing my foot forward over the top tube & that's getting more difficult. ppl w knee & hip surgeries probably appreciate the step thru frames too. recently my wife had trouble w her Trek FX which has a sloped top tube but it wasn't low enough (she's petite & almost 60) so I got her a Trek Stagger, not technically a step-thru frame but a much lower top tube. honestly I'd probably like it too but there's no way I'll be seen in public riding a "women's" bike. yes old discriminatory points of view die hard, even in ppl who consider themselves enlightened & progressive, like myself so maybe the question isn't why are different top tube styles made but rather, why are they named men's / women's |
his top tube is sloped, can't see hers
http://www.thebicyclestory.com/wp-co...bike-wyman.jpg I think she's got a women's frame for sure which helps with the skirt. check out this kid carrier! http://washcycle.typepad.com/.a/6a00...0e57970d-800wi |
While I can't remember a time before bikes in my life, we owned horses during my late childhood & mid-teens. I don't know it that has anything to do with it, but I've always gotten on & off my bike as if I was mounting or dismounting a horse.
I suffered a fairly serious back injury in 2009 (my own damn fault; I ignored all the warning signs for some days beforehand), and since then the act of throwing my leg back over the saddle 'pops' my lower back & seems to relieve built-up muscle tension. |
I don't care for Mr. Pence, but I don't mind admiring the fact that he's a cyclist. George W Bush is apparently pretty darned good on a mountain bike, so there's something I can like him for, too.

So many other examples I'd like to give, but few would be appropriate. |
Mike Pence actually is a cycling enthusiast.
Here's him and his better half on their annual election morning bike ride two weeks ago. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2016/...8621866622.jpg And another one of him last month, during the inaugural bike ride at a new Indiana bike park dedicated to fallen US Army Sergeant Dale Griffin. http://bloximages.chicago2.vip.townn...0d58.image.jpg Here's another two politicos on a bike. Ron and Rand Paul, back in the day. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-BXGX2r_gtg...onRandPaul.jpg |

What... no mention of Sammy Hagar? Believe at one time he owned a few bike shops (Sausalito Cyclery).
On the 'Red Rocker' (by Gary Fisher) http://www.redrocker.com/sites/defau...bike051289.jpg Also, you can see some of his bikes (mixed upon his incredible cool car collection) / in an episode of Jay Leno's Garage. Would be fun to hear about his bikes. Noticed an atb tandem and others. |

^Not sure. Though he's shown riding it north of Schwinn home of Chicago in Highland Park, IL.
edit: Part I Irony just hit me. Just this past Thanksgiving day, we were traveling into the city and on the tollway passed a gold colored vintage Porsche 928. Was on the shoulder pulled over by a Trooper! It just seemed odd because I rarely even see this model anymore. LOL Part II Funky memories. Back when and in the making of the above movie, Cruise was at my old place of work. One scene shows him slowly driving and was probably 40 ft. from my desk. -------- Difficult to view but another shot of Cruise and bike in Risky Biz http://tse4.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.M7...50fo0&pid=15.1 |
