*Yeah, yeah, he is not on a bike. And I couldn't find a pic of him riding. I included this because in 1989, when I was a bike messenger in Boston, I collided into him. He stepped into traffic from between some parked cars without looking. I yelled "LOOK OUT" and then kind of dove off my bike and hugged/tackled him to the ground. It was a very low speed collision. I kept asking him "Are you OK?" and he was just super embarrassed. I was going slow enough that I was able to think of him and his well being and use my body to sort of roll and take the brunt of the fall and cushion him with my body. By the time we both got up and dusted off, he was laughing nervously. I said "Are you SURE you are ok?" He said "The only thing hurt is my ego" and then got on to a big tour bus.

I rode off and another messenger who saw the whole thing and was watching to make sure I was ok and to act as a witness 'just in case' said "Do you know who that was you just tackled?" I said "No" . He said "That was Richard Marx". I said "Oh. Cool. Who is Richard Marx?"

I suppose it says something about how C&V I am that I recognize almost none of the post-1980 celebrities.

If you're referring to Robert Redford, the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid was circa 1969.

I keep meaning to show my kids, The Sting, but then fearing it wasn't as good as I remember. That Scott Joplin tune, though...

Just as people derogatorily call others "Einstein", I think saying someone is no "Robert Redford" (to signify a lack of looks) will endure forever.

Looks like as part of practice; Why in the heck would they have them riding non-folding 20" wheel bikes, with way too short a seatpost? That hurts your knees.

Rear caliper AND coaster brakes. Not sure if that in front is a caliper brake or a generator light. Oh, and remember proper cups with saucers, instead of mugs?

He made many, but I think his definitive (acting) film is Three Days of the Condor, well made in all regards, and still a very relevant film 50 years later.

Belt and suspenders. ;)
