maybe this was just a 'normal' guy looking to do a little n-1 on the the hoard
his disheveled appearance coulda been cause his fed up wife woke him to blast him about his latest pick up
giving him the ultimatum "sell it or be the n-1"

Bikes: Two wheeled ones

When you see a disheveled person selling a bike for $10 on the street...yes...it's likely stolen. If it were you bike you'd be a lot less open minded about the potential reasons.

If the bike were mine or if I knew it were stolen then I would take measures to get it returned. The op has no evidence to act upon. Though he also has no evidence the man was a homeless crackhead, but that did not stop him from making that judgement.

+1. If someone approached me with an old entry to mid level mountain bike and said they'd sell it to me for $10, I would politely tell them I wouldn't take it if it were free.
