Two things:
  1. Michael Angelo has already made a very generous offer of $150... It would be be silly to take an offer for less.
  2. Sadly, at least from my perspective seeing what a gold mine this machine could potentially be, this actually belongs to fender1.

Sorry!

Whether you're 6'4" and 275 lbs or scrawny and dangerous, I'm not entirely into the idea of being torn from limb to limb!

Don't worry. You'll never see my people coming, and it won't hurt. Much. :>

1972 plus or minus a year is pretty close to it's age.

The Mondia paint jobs were ahead of their time. Many got a fade transition to the chrome on the forks and stays too. I am pretty sure its top grade Reynolds 531 throughout. Transfer gone awol.

Indeed a terrific deal, hubs have been exchanged, these bikes came with tubulars and Campagnolo hubs stock. The Rally rear mech is a post sale upgrade later.

In the smaller sizes these bike had really long wheelbases, even for their time. In the larger sizes the geometry balances more, the rear end does not continue to grow much and the whole appearance of the bike is more balanced.

I cant wait to see that thing cleaned up. The paint and stripes are incredible.
I'm also glad to hear its going to stay more as pictured. Its a survivor.

That said I dont have a problem with people setting aside period parts and putting on parts to improve the ridability if they want to enjoy the bike. The way I look at it is the period parts can just as easily be put back on as they were taken of as long as you dont do any permanent modification to the frame and retain the parts. The old parts once worn out are gone. So to me if you plan to enjoy the bike and ride the hell out of it as you should putting on a modern parts to wear out makes sense.

Look forward to a dedicated thread on the bike!
