All signs point to it being a 1987 560 Pro Series. Check out the catalog: https://www.vintage-trek.com/images/t...rekCatalog.pdf

As it turns out the tubing is Reynolds 531.

No this is not a Trek model number. They did however make several bikes with similar model numbers 530 and 536. I'm pretty sure the owner has just confused the 531 frame material series markings for the model number. If you check out https://vintage-trek.com they have a good list of all the models with descriptions.

I like that green Avocet computer, that's something you don't see every day!

Nice score Thumpic!

I just bought the same bike- smaller size. Mine is not in as a good a shape with some rust spots and a few scratches. For touchup paint try this nail polish: Sally Hansen, Xtreme Wear, "The Real Teal", 4860-39. I found this at the local Walgreens. It is a pretty good match!

Congrats on your bike.... How does it handle? Mine needs to have the headset replaced so I can't get a feel for how it takes corners because of the "notchiness" in the steering.

Thanks for the touch up tip; but how well does the nail polish wear?? I can't imagine that its durable enough to last for long.

The bike is too big for me so I can't really comment on the handling.........

I *REALLY* like mine but I've also done some upgrades-- Superbe Pro, Command shifters, tubular wheelset. The main triangle is butted 531, stays and blades are something else, probably Ishiwata 022. But it rides very nicely, climbs like a goat, and the handling is very intuitive. Go get it; you won't regret it.

Can't comment on the duarbility of the nail polish. I just finished assemblying the bike with LOTS of touch up using the polish. It came out pretty well but the match is not exact. Much better than rusty scrapes though. Captain blight, the fork appears to be italian. the steerer tube is marked 26.5mm which is an italian size for lower bearing ID. I can barely make out additional stampings "SPIRNER" and a logo that looks like a bird (quail or dove).
