Cinelli Stem Frustration...
Ok... Sooo my bike has a Cinelli 1E stem and a Cinelli 64-42 drop bar combo. Works perfectly... Bolts in the stem are rusty so I was going to swap it for an XA stem
The XA stem is 26.0mm and that appears to be what the drop bar measures out to be... But I can't get the friggin bar into the stem... What am I doing wrong here??
Heres some pics:

Is the Cinelli bar double grooved? Most of the 26.0 bars have a warning note on them...also, the 26.0 are all grooved I believe.
Bottom line...Cinelli produced XAs in both 26.4 and 26.0, same for 64s.

The bar is most likely 26.4.

He meant, is the bar double-grooved (indents for cables).
Most Cinelli bars and stems are 26.4. It sure sounds as if you are trying to fit a standard 26.4 Cinelli bar into the (less common) 26.0 Cinelli stem.

Ah, no, not double grooved... It is drilled to run internal cabels though... Is the 1E stem 26 or 26.4?

^ Since you say the bars fit the 1E stem (but not the 26.0mm XA stem), then the 1E stem must be 26.4.
P.s. The 64-42 indicates the drop and width of the bars, and has no relation to the bar diameter/stem compatibility.

It's a 1A (not 1E). They were made in 26.4 and 26.0, but the vast majority are 26.4.

Done!!
Thanks for the help! Just finished... Cables would have been easier without the interrupter levers and bar end shifters but it will be a nice ride =)
This is my "backup" rider... Miele Doral Road Issue with full shimano 600
Yea.. I know... I need more practice with bar tape =)

Thanks! Yea... It all started when I put the Dura Ace seatpost in... Then Dura Ace Bar Ens shifters... Then one thing lead to another and it was full 600...
The frame is quite basic cr-mo Tange... Nothing special... I just really liked the factory pearl white paint
