Strange Bianchi: Help ID??

So I picked up a Bianchi for $10 from a gal's grandpa that I was helping move. Problem is it doesn't seem to match a lot of Bianchi's that I've browsed thru the past 3 days. There's only one "Bianchi" logo, missing the one on the seat tube. It's a nice little bike, and is make with Columbus steel which I hear is a good thing. Any help??

Serial Number: (Some char I can't make out) B9044
Front Derail: Suntour
Rear Derail:Shimano Crane GS
BB/Cranks: Bianchi
Stem: Cinelli
Break Levers: Mafac France
Quick Release: Maillard
Wheels: Rigida
Shifters: Campagnolo
Frame: about a 56cm

(I am aware that this is a second post of same exact thing. Title on other was misleading. I would delete it if I could find how. Thanks.)

Bikes: Casati, Look, Torelli, Ridley, and a bunch of steel bikes from the 80s and the 90s..

That's look like a Campy or Sugino crank. Bianchi stamps their name on it. It looks like one of those mid to late 80s Japanese mid level bike. Its a deal for 10 bucks.

I think it is a good deal for a bike that works at $10 but some things interest me. Judging from the over the BB cable routing and below the TT cable routing it looks more like early '80s. the lack of a derailleur hanger makes it a lowerend machine but it has columbus decals seems odd to me.

Are the seat stay capes rounded or they concave or 'spoon' shaped, they look rounded in the pics. can you take a pic of the fork crown? what are the fork ends? does the headtube/downtube lug have a B stamped on it? is there anything stamped on the frok crown?

The crank is mostlikely an Ofmega like Bianchi used alot in the mid '80s.

OH what is the front brake and the headset? and the size of the seatpost?

The seat stay caps are round. The fork crown does not have a stamp that I've seen, and neither does the downtube lug. The fork ends say "Tange - T (something I can't make out)." Headset says "Tange Levin Japan." The back break looked like the original and said "Balilla," but the front looks really new and is a Dia-Compe AX-II. And I don't have a caliper to measure the seat stem (which has no marking at the head), and I must be an idiot because with a string and tape I get approx. 8.5 cm diam. That can't be right. OK before I get too far into a double Comso on an empty stomach, T-Mar and everyone feel free to jump in here.

Unless it is older than '81 I do not think you have a Bianchi on your hands. I do not see anything in the catalogs that exhibits the type of frame features your bike has, the rounded seatstay caps slightly set back, no derailleur hanger but shifter bosses (atleast I do not see a clamp) and those under the TT cable guides.

The fork obviously has Columbus decals erroneously placed on it, so who is to say what what the frame is.

However for $10 it looks to be in great condition so if it fits I would still say you got a great deal.

BTW most alloy seatpost have the size stamped in them and on yours that portion of the post looks to be inserted in the frame right now.

It's hard to imagine a Columbus SL frame having a stamped rear dropout with double eyelets and requiring a derailleur with claw hanger.

To measure the post more accurately without calipers, cut a 5mm by 100mm strip of paper. Wrap it tightly around a cleaned section of the post and mark the paper where it overlaps, using a sharp pencil. Remove the paper and measure from the end to the mark. Divide the measurement by 3.14 to get the diameter. Repeat the process to ensure accuracy.

Check the bottom bracket cups for thread standard stampings.

Ha, well thank you so much for all the info! You all seem to be a pretty neat community here at BF. I would say that I can't be sad about the $10, no. Maybe I can make it a fixie project or something. Thanks again all!
