I was watching that auction, lots of stuff, quite a bit of "throwaways". I was a bit concerned as one set of brakes has Suntour levers, the seller does not know too much about the stuff, the images help more. But one has a hard time tracing what is what.

Shipping seems steep, but it depends on how they box it up or not, having the brake boxes crushed would not bee good, who knows if they have their cable sets, roll the dice...

Maybe I am a tightwad but I don't see $3500 there.

It always amazes me that people who "don't know much about the stuff" end up with piles like this. Quite a hoard.

Yeah. Five grand is way off, let alone 3500. No NIB pedals or rear derailleurs :>

$3750/300lb = $12.50/lb, not too often you see NOS Campy at that price!

The seller should've split this up - if they'd do some research and play their cards right, they could realize the amount they assume the lot to be worth.

Then again, if they did Rootboy and I would've been in a bidding war over the luggage tag!

Watching the end of the insanity with interest...

I came up with $2,600 or so in ebay value. Note that is prior to the fee discount. Many of the hubs are orphans, and there might be matching skewers for the sets without. Unfortunately the way they set the boxes up is deceiving. There are probably a number of empty boxes there when comparing the list to the images. Some of the brake calipers are without brake block holders, which places them at quite a discount.
The Huret multido odometers are serious in qty. but not a big value item, as are the Dia-Compe "comfort levers", some of the stuff like the spokes ... no telling other than they are not stainless. The reflectors, tell them to not bother packing those.

The bidding is up to almost $2,600 now. It is going to take a lot of spreadsheet thinking to value it more than that.

Why all the fuss over a bunch of over-priced junk when you can buy parts on eBay like these for fraction of the cost?

Why, I probably even have a few like these that I might be willing to part with.

Real genuine Chang Star breaks. I think they carved those out of rock in the early eighties.

Yeah, you could be right about that. - But you wouldn't want that Campy stuff on your bike at any price, anyhow: It might make people might think you're a bike snob, and you wouldn't want that.
Don't have to worry about that with a Chang-star Gruppo!

It's an unfair universe. Either that or it's just plain dumb luck. Or lack of it ,in my case.

Money and ability to spend it without regard to common sense. Since I don't know much about this stuff, I'll go out on a limb and say it doesn't meet reserve.

I'll bet it does, and further bet the seller got that pile for a relative song.

My guess is the remnants from an estate. They are likely the Executor or a relative.
