Let's See Your Mercian Photo Thread
Let's see your Mercians. Any year, any condition. Hopefully we can get photos of most of the Mercians in one place.
This is a 1982 Vincitore. Originally, I thought it was from the late 70's because of the derailleur cable routing and the 120 mm rear dropout spacing and the long Campagnolo rear dropouts. However, the serial number ends with "82" which I learned from this forum indicates it is a 1982 frame and fork.
I purchased this frame and fork in 1999 as NOS and built it up with Campagnolo Nuovo/Super Record components. Because of the fork and rear dropout spacing and the normal reach (aka long reach) old brakes, I can fit up to a 33mm tire.
The photos may show white particles from a recent polishing.

My 1979 Mercian. Probably an Olympic.
With 165mm Campagnolo cranks.
NR rear deraileur.
It has Universal CX brakes. It now has a B17N Imperial as the Professional tore at the nose.

Here's my 1971 Mercian Olympic, repainted by Mercian in 2010. Built up with mostly Campy NR, TA crankset, Cinelli stem and bars, Weinmann centerpulls and period-correct TA bottle and cage, and Silca Imperio pump and Bluemels Club Special fenders. The Kirtland seat bag, VDO computer and Planet Bike mudflap are notably period-incorrect.

I've noticed that my KOM has really beefy tapered seat stays, it looks like most of the bikes here share that feature. Is that common for Mercian frames?

Looking forward to it. Did you ever find the Campy NR shifter clamp you needed? I was looking at a complete set I have, and it has the telltale signs of metal fatigue that come from a ham fisted mechanic. It made me wonder whether that part would be in short supply because if you're not careful with the way you bend those clamps, they eventually fail.

I don't know, but I also noticed that the full Reynolds 531 DB frameset is not as light as either of my other 531 DB framesets (one of which is metric French, which explains that one, but not the other, which is British). Is that extra weight accounted for by the stays? I don't know.

Mine is fairly heavy in general, but that makes sense because it's a tourer. Mine is made with 531 Super Tourist and weighs around 28-29lbs as seen above. Weight sounds like a negative, but i'd say that my Mercian fits what I want in ride and feel compared to my others.

It is 9 speed, but it was not set up to index. I only used it like that for two days, just to see if I could. It worked really well actually, but my Deore XT derailleur shifted with a much lighter touch.... of course that is comparing apples and franken-oranges.

I feel like the red headed step child being among all the great looking Mercians.
This is my Mercian( I believe Professional) that I got early in the fall and have not finished the rehab. All I have done so far is add new tires and re-grease all the greasables. Getting a TA crank puller took a while. After that a few rides to see what I want to do with it. Which I think is keep it pretty much period correct and as is.

My 1980 Superlight is presently disassembled as I am pondering a 650B conversion. I have not found a suitable (to me) brake scenario, so I set it aside awaiting further inspiration.
