I must be the only person in existence who finds U2 annoying as hell. They started out as a second rate Clash, they morphed into a 2nd rate Simple Minds and now they're a second rate U2.

Can't be U2. Larry Mullen, Jr. hasn't aged since 1979.
Nah. Lots of people think it's cool to hate bands that are popular.

"And gold is the reason for the wars we wage"
Thank you political scientist Bono. How profound.
Bono, Sting and Michael Stipe all follow what I call the mumbles rule....when they mumble, and the vocals are covered by the music, the bands are ok. The minute they try to actually sing...good lord, change the channel. Joshua Tree is still one of the most repetitive, dull albums I've ever heard.

I really was kind of pointing at the picture, the current cover of "peloton" magazine.
They just struck me as U2 (with more visual appeal, maybe character, too)
One wonders if Bono will use his $1.5B from the Facebook IPO to pay off any 3rd world debt?

U just found your nr. 2. most over rated self-aggrandizing idiot in showbiz, Bono is. Telling the world to share the wealth on a tour that's transported with 1 yet and 20 big ass trucks. I wouldn't mind the hypocrisy if I at least could tolerate the stuff they try to pass as music. Next up: Coldplay burn. Boy those guys suck.

Robbie - I'm sorry for derailing it (or derailleur'ing it)...the post was funny as heck and the photo great.

Thank god I am not alone! I remember friends playing their first record for me and stunned that I thought it sucked. It did and still does. Everything I have heard since has bored me to tears. The "Memphis" phase they went through & movie they did made me laugh. That one song that they do with B.B. King cracks me up. They sound like they are trying so hard and he sounds like he is just finishing up his lunch break.

Do they look that good now? (not a U2 fan, either).

Same thing with all these "tribute songs" as a cover up for a blatant rip off of a broke legend. What also busts my stones is all these fake stars claiming that they were fans at a young age of Pink Floyd, the Stones and the like, claiming that those bands are major influences... While IF they only had influenced the music, it wouldn't be that bad!

I don't know about annoying - I don't like their music. Clash is even worse though. Music's been going downhill ever since disco died.

That's why I stick to the 'classics'...
Ella, Lady Day, Jellyroll, Muddy, Coltrane, Robert Johnson, Leadbelly... and the list can go on for a while!

That's like hating freedom
There are certain things you're not allowed to hate - freedom, moms, apple pie, Mark Twain...
You aren't allowed to hate Chuck Berry. Unless you're an abused ex-girlfriend of Chuck Berry.
