I'll bet he has a jersey that looks the part, as well. It would be a hit in Wisconsin, for sure. Maybe we'll scare up a Badger Jersey....give the Doc a little Midwest class....

Bumpety.

OK folks, those who are bringing bikes to show need to send me the bike info. Figure a 5x8 card with 16 font. Make, model, year, info on the bike (whatever you want to share with the unwashed masses), and then your name and home town/city/village/box under a bridge.

Even if it's the only bike and you will ride it, if you want to put it in the rack Friday night or after the ride, let me know, I'll make a card. Last day for this is Wednesday next week.

I need T-shirt sizes. No obligation, no guarantee, but I'll see what I can do. They will be $10 and I will definitely lose money if I go through with it. No biggie, I need to step up for iab.

crank_addict has to bow out, bigger things to do that day. He had reservations at the Walker House, so those who may want to get a room better call. No idea the rates, but it's tourist season in 'the Point, so call now.

Things going on in Mineral Point.
"Paint the Point." You will see artists all over town doing their thing. Try not to hit them. Some sit right in the street.
Last year, the WI state high school rodeo championships were in town. I'd not be surprised if that's there again. A very cool diversion.
The pool is open. Massive pool, built by the WPA during the depression, 50 meters long, 21 meters wide, cut into the side of a hill (also a rest stop).
Farmers market on Saturday morning. We ride right by it. By the water tower.
I'm sure other stuff. If you bring people, they'll likely have more fun than you.

If there are questions about Saturday night, please ask. My sister is having a cookout, much like last year's Friday night meal, for the Dare C&V folk that want to attend, and me, and a few of my relatives will be there. They are often interested in whether or not I threw up on the route. They've come to look forward to this, so if you show up, you know you'll be welcome.

Bring a bike to the Friday night dinner at the fire station. Those of you in Mineral Point can easily ride to the dinner and back. Mineral Point is not even 3 miles end-end, so figure you ride maybe 2 miles round trip. This way, we can criticize your build, your wrenching, your bike, your heritage, home town, etc, but we won't make it personal. Just specific.

I wish to hell Bob Troy, Luis, Skip, and the other Chicagoans could come. Bob and his wife would enjoy it a lot. You never know. Reach out to someone, eh?

Has anyone heard from Barrettcv? I'm too lazy to PM him.

Oh, heck yeah.

The 10th Anniversary Dare jersey is a nice match, but I really like the plain red LG jersey given to me by my daughter and SiL a few years ago. First time I wore it got a rip on the right lower shoulder from a low hanging tree branch. Got a two inch patch of a bloodshot eyeball that Wally sewed on for me. I swear, it was her suggestion.

I have nothing small enough, or I'd bring one from Indiana/Kentucky.

Peter, would Jill have something in that range? Age is not an issue....
I just saw this - I will ask her what she has that is working and what she is willing to do (no promises - as this has not been our winter, spring, summer for riding, nor bike maintenance, nor building and I have projects that are in cycle - one near the end and the other just at the beginning that I am excited about) .

This morning we just talked about what bikes we likely were going to ride and what could we bring.....determine what needs to be done to make them ride. I will let you know asap.

Robbie,
BTW regarding shirt sizes........: If the shirts are more than we are willing to pay more.

Jill = Small
Peter = Large

If nothing has been found I can offer my 19" 1991 Trek 400 commuter. It's commuterized with 25's, rack, kickstand, fenders etc, but a Brooks, 10 speed ultegra, and 2 sided spd pedals.
It'd have to be picked up in MKE.

Robbie, could I order an XL and a large?

I've been losing quite a bit of weight this last year and if I keep it up, I'll be out of xl's in no time.

Also, I'll pm you some bike info in a few minutes.

Probably drag along a few framesets, just for grins. Maybe a few other items if we have a swap.

Likely just bring my Bilenky tourer with a Record triple to ride and my McLean for show.

Folks, bring all you want to swap. I've not been to a place where anything inhibited the deals.

At Classic Rendezvous, the parking lot had more action than a drunk... never mind.

RE: T-shirts. Comments noted. I have sent the info to a local screener, but there is absolutely no guarantee they'll be done in time. Years of directing 10K's, etc have proved to me that no screen printing operation is accurate or on time, so I'm not counting on anything.

I will have cards and clips for the displayed bikes. The bike racks, most of you have seen. You will need something to stuff next to the rear wheel to keep the bikes well vertical. I'm using my brother's toothbrush.

We are all adults, except Pete's Brother Brian, so putting our heads together on Friday night will easily determine Saturday night, eh?

Just kidding on Brian. He still has the best Eddy Merckx kit I've ever seen.

Last "training ride" prior to the Dare. Decided to shake down the Wraith Hustle. Bike was flawless. Needs a much shorter stem and carbon bars, which are en route.

No breakfast, drank 8 oz of water, then out the door. (4 beers, no dinner last night....like I said "training")

90-degrees. 53+ miles, non-stop. First 9.97m went hard, to reach the rolloff point in 30 minutes. Made it in 27, solo. No rest, only one guy there. We went 33, interrupted in the middle by a tractor parade. Yes, a parade of old tractors, C&V, rolling 13 mph. Took awhile to pass them, but really cool to roll by them, as well. Last 9.97, after I'd finished my one bottle, not grim, but not a joyride, either.

Shower, and then onto the couch for an hour. Then, of course, intense cramping, but hey, only on one leg.

Given what I've done in the last 45 days, I should not be riding.

Which means I'll be there, ready to ride. Always good to be humiliated.

Anyone who rides a bike a full inch longer than a decent fit is to be admired.

Hey Robbie, I'm up for a T-shirt. Medium or large will do. I lost 12 pounds on the Tour Divide this year.

I'm bringing my Anderson again. I've got a '72 Sports Tourer I was hoping to bring but its not quite ready...

Getting ready. Don't you hate it when you finally decide what you want to bring, and you discover that you have a missing part? Ugh. Missing a Suntour pedal dust cap. Perfection is a lot of little things done well..........

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone!!!!

And I threw one away not 5 weeks ago. An orphan, too.

You have not sent me the rundown on your bike. If you want a printed card, send me the info. Or you can forget, and I'll have Jill smack you around.

Hmmm. Might like that!

I'll talk with Jill tonight see if she is going to bring her Lemond (and hence I will send you her write up) and at this time I have no choice but to bring the Trek that I had up there two years ago......... I will send you the info tonight after I talk with her, or at the latest tomorrow.
