Peugeot Head Badge Timeline
We all know how much guess work dating a Peugeot can be sometimes. So imagine my surprise when a head badge timeline got outed today on the CR list — and put together by Peugeot, no less. I cleaned it up for easier reference. (And as always with Peugeot, caveat emptor!)

For anyone interested, a larger version can be accessed on my Flickr account here.
And the original .pdf files can be located here.

Very cool. I recently picked up an English mystery bike in Pug livery. Came with a '46 head badge.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Nice, thanks for sharing. Most of them are nice. 95 was regrettable but not as bad as the most recent version. Yow. They should go back to something that looks like a lion.

Thanks for posting that Azorch! That looks like a great way to ballpark the date on an old pug.
I can vouch for the '71, '75 and '82 badges - though I have only seen the '82 raised plastic version on European market bikes, so there may be a little bit of uncertainty in the chart.
PS_ That most recent 2010 badge is lamentable.

Yeah, all in the name of keeping things contemporary and up to date, right? I think they'd sell more if they used a "throw back" design myself. I was disappointed with the look of their current model, but I guess that's what bikes look like today. Ugh.

Excellent resource and thanks for sharing. Did this badge show up anywhere..?

It is fitted to this Peugeot Roadster, that I hope to get at some day...

@Randy: Nope, I posted everything they had in the brochure. I fully expect to see loads more that weren't included in the timeline too. My own PX-10 has a variation of the 1971 decal and I've got a metal head badge lying on my workbench that is different as well. So, as is par for the course with Peugeot, nothing definitive!
To all: On a side note, I love the suggestion about a head badge poster. If folks would be willing to send me sharp, high resolution photos, I would be willing to put a design together that could be used for a poster, or even a shirt - how cool would THAT be? I'd rather be more inclusive though, rather than limit it only to Pug. What do you think?

Randy, it appears what you have is a variation on the 1977 badge. It's just green instead of red, though I could be wrong.

I agree about the 2010 badge, it looks like a ripoff of something theoatmeal might have drawn.

Chris- were the local examples built for the US market? It could just be coincidence, but those I've seen locally (a grand total of 3) were brought in from overseas by military personnel.
