With what spoke hole counts did Sturmey Archer make their rear hubs?
Title says it all-- What different spoke hole counts did Sturmey Archer manufacture their rear hubs with over the years? I know they've made 40, 36, and later on even 28. But what about 32? I have a 32H rim that I've been itching to build up with a pre-1970s AW hub but the only ones I can find are either 36 or 40H. Did 32 ever exist?

28, 36 and 40 are all I've ever seen.
What rim, in you don't mind? Maybe you can find the same rim in a 40 hole to make a proper set?

I have it understood that 32 hole and 40 hole combination works fine, but you have to get something like 8 different spoke lengths in order for it to work.

I have a new 32H VO PBP rim itching to be built up. I already have two 36H SA hubs just sitting in my basement. I figured I'd go with a lower spoke count if I could, to save weight. I'm considering converting my 1x5 Jeunet to an SA-3spd. I have a 32H PBP rim in front, laced to a Shimano dynoub. I really like this particular rim. Oh well, I may just have to pick up another PBP rim, in 36H.

A 40H hub works fine with a 32H rim, and you only need two different spoke sizes. I've done it more than once. Basically you calculate as if you had a 32H hub, then get 16 spokes a couple mm shorter than that and 16 a couple mm longer. I have the exact figures somewhere, can find them for you.
40h hubs are really plentiful. Ask Neal, I'm sure he has more than one extra. Or, if you're concerned about weight, get an alloy shell one, which were pretty common around 1950-54 (but these, alas, are a little more expensive!).

And I'd love an alloy Sturmey shell.
