And now for something completely different...

Tomorrow is the day I pick up a very special bike (to me, at least) :)

A few days later, I will be passed a special frame, but that's another thread.

Let the guessing begin - but understand this is a pretty sizable departure from what I normally ride and collect.

It'll be the oldest bike by far, and I'm positive I'll never have another opportunity like this in my lifetime - I'll probably use up every last bit of Bike Karma bringing this into the stable, but I don't care one little bit :)

Boneshaker !

Drillium Dude 07-10-12 12:20 AM

^ Now that would be something completely different :)

Not quite that old, however!

You've found yourself a 3 speed!

Captain Blight 07-10-12 05:32 AM

shadoman 07-10-12 06:34 AM

Rene Hearse ?

OOh, Ooh, Ooh, I know, I know, pick me, pick me, pick me! A GMC Denali with a rear rack, a milk crate on the rack and the bars turned up D.U.I. style. Did I guess right DD?

mikemowbz 07-10-12 06:51 AM

Is it British (or at least narrated by John Cleese)?

20grit 07-10-12 06:52 AM

Iver Johnson truss frame in pristine condition with wood rims.

rhm 07-10-12 06:55 AM

I'm guessing it's a 650b randonneur bike. Either that or an English 'club racer' type thing.

Glad to hear you're using up some karma. What's the point in hoarding it?

KonAaron Snake 07-10-12 06:56 AM

I was guessing high wheeler as well.

I once used this exact title for a thread!

Nope - I rode aluminum once and it didn't do anything for me at all :)

My Bianchi Axis and Cross Concept were the only aluminum bicycles I ever loved.

I rode a buddies' older Serotta Colorado aluminum crit bike last week and my kidneys hurt for days from the bouncing.

Too old for that.

Stiff, stiff, stiff and no thanks.

It does have three speeds - plus an additional seven ;)

Ooh, I know...

KonAaron Snake 07-10-12 10:06 AM

OK - 10 speeds, older than his normal (60s?), rare and hard to get...

I'm going Paramount, maybe chrome.

We need a little more to make guesses.

Nope - too rich for my blood and I am averse to French-threaded everything ;)

Hetchins? I'm thinking british, maybe tourer...something like a Bates, Ephgrave or Jack Taylor.

That's the closest guess yet - but you're a little off on the country of origin, the rack, the milk crate and bar orientation. Other than that...

Hmmm, some more hints are needed I think. There are just to much to choose from!

But, you do seem to prefer Italians I think, so I'm going with a Frejus or Legnano....

cyclotoine 07-10-12 10:13 AM

A first production run ritchey MTB and by that I mean from the first batch of 10 or whatever frames he built and sold to his buddies.
