I’m not sure how many companies did this, but as you can see there is a painted panel behind the badge.

Ended up with brad heads, may get some screws later, maybe.

I just did this restoration of a Bottecchia head badge for a gentleman I ride with here in the Sacramento area. I used modeling enamels and although not perfect it was fun to do, and I reckon he'll be pleased with the results!

I'm sure you're right about that. C. Itoh was the importer, correct? I saw a few bikes with that name on them. Some had text something like "guaranteed world's best bicycle mechanism" right along the down tube. It was weird to me.

You are correct! There were also C. Itoh branded bicycles, a lower-end line perhaps made by Bridgestone, as was Kabuki.

Pic sent to me after I scrubbed mine off...

At the age of 17, I saved my money from my summer job and bought myself a very fine Peugeot PXN-10LE. I brought it to college, and within a few months, my pride and joy was stolen. My roommate had one of those "world's finest" bikes, and he was barely using it, so he said I could use it. It turned my snobbery around. I thought the bike was ugly, and I wouldn't have agreed to be seen on it. But it I really preferred to commute on bike, and it made me see the wisdom of having a beater bike. And it didn't ride badly! It took another couple of years before I owned both a fine bike and a beater which is really a sensible plan.

47 years later, I'm still friends with that roommate.

Here's two I bought from Crust:


Scapebot. This is now on the headtube of the PPPKN-10. With the colors and the lettering and the imagery, I think it goes well with the matte blue paint and stickerbombed look of the bike.

Scapegoat. This one will go on the headtube of my '85 League Fuji. I think the pewter will look good against the matte tan powdercoat on that frame.

No pix yet of the Scapebot on the PPPKN-10, but I'll have some soon.
