This (below) can't quite match that (above), especially because it captures only the bike's wheels. However it is recent and a bike we have put many miles on this year, so it must be near favorite.

"hotlink" from third party photo hosting site. I use photobucket.com. They will give you a URL of the uploaded photo that says "IMG code". Use that.

Thanks for the memory jog, Jim - that's exactly the same Triumph Spitfire my dad had back in the late-60s

Beautiful (both red machines)!

I am have to go with my '90 Trek 790. It has no pedigree to speak of Compared to the other pretty machines here. However, it is lugged steel that goes anywhere in all four seasons, handles 42mm tires with fenders, will carry 100 lbs, and it is under my arse around 5-days per week for work, errands, or chasing the kids about. I thought about some other canidates about the garage (most are prettier), but I am going to have to stick with the bike with the most utility.

Given the scope of your collection, I'd say considerable waffling is to be expected.
This one's a beauty - I like the way the Italian colors are worked in there, without taking over or looking clownish.

Grazie mille amico!!!

I can understand your position. There is no reason for them to have shipped the bikes in bits like that. Gee, the least they could do was put the wheels together!

My Bottecchia "apologizes," on behalf of all Bottecchias in the USA, for any inconvenience she may have caused in her assembly.

My 1988 Nishiki Altron 7000. The only bike that I've never had the urge to sell. Criteriums, centuries, group rides, training rides...this thing does it all.

Most of me wants to like it. High end 70's and 80's racing bikes are my favorite. But it just looking at that glossy catalog brought up so many old memories that I had not visited since I last saw a Bottecchia.
As for turning a profit, yeah, it was impossible. I would bet it took about 10 hours per bike to get the build done. At least they went together easily, Campy always just glides onto a frame. But the wheel building and frame prep just ate up the hours. We were kind of stupid about some things, too. We glued the tires, and drilled the handlebars for the brake levers. I would not do that nowadays!
Anyway, I guess it is time to forgive. I do like your bike. Perhaps I even had a hand in building it if you bought it from the California Pedaler in Pleasanton CA in the late 80's.

Oh, and here is my fave at the moment. A 1972 Paramount with a new powdercoat. Someone had previously repainted it and removed all of the chrome, if there ever was any to begin with.

Don't forget the 600 sidepulls, sugino post, and the cinelli stem and bars with the avocet saddle. In Minnesota we refer to this as "back of the refrigerator hot dish".

And yes, a ride sounds great whenever you're in the area.
