Well this just came for me today, A 1985 Cinelli Super Corsa. By far my biggest expenditure yet on a CV bike.
Box had a hole in it, which didn't concern me that much, until I easily opened it up(thin tape) and immediately saw what a terrible pack job it was. Grail bike here, and wanted that "Christmas feeling", but was thinking damage control all the way. Exposed frame everywhere, No pipe insulation at all. afterthought bubble wrap & thin loose, cardboard on frame. Bars put in wrong position and lots of side to side play inside box. I even paid the guy an extra $42, because he listed Packing/shipping slightly low @ $100. I volunteered to do so, because I wanted packing done right. Looks like home job to me, but he said it was done by LBS.
I probably need to sit with it a little more, but initial visual and feeling for damage hasn't yielded any. Not sure to tell though if anything could have got bent out of shape? Do I need measuring tools for something like that?
Other than that, as I was hoping, (bike was described as excellent) the bike actually appears to be a NOS frame/components build project, that wasn't completed. I can't find any signs that the rest of bike has seen any road use. ( Except for some slight wear on the nice condition wheelset).

Got my Alan Today from John Irvine and all I can say is he sure knows how to pack a bike.....got a surprise because when I bought bits and pieces from him he was telling me about all the issues they had etc.
Well the parts are really clean and the Seat Post looks NOS!
I will post pics when I start the build.....all Campy bits that I have been saving.
Thanks again John. Ben

For me, today it was a 1050-era 105 rear derailleur for a bike that I am selling--a beautiful 1989 Trek 1200 in white with mint green decals. "Shimano 105" on the chainstay guard and dark anodized components throughout, save for the RD, crank (will be a 6400), and brake levers (will be somewhat road-rashed same-era Superbe Pros). I think I have a crush on these aluminum Treks from this time, and the components certainly help that. Once ridden, I will see if that continues.

I'll have to do a bit of paint touch-up but it shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah that is what I am thinking pretty much & hoping. Also really didn't care for that glaringly exposed seatpost cavity either. Tried to insert the post and it seemed a little hard, didn't push it that much, but I might just try to get the frameset measured and seatpost cavity checked to be safe.

It was the 'stealth' holiday, MLK Jr's Birthday, the one you never expect (like the Spanish Inquisition).
It just sneaks up on you and you find the government is shut down. Never seem to remember that. Hopefully a check comes tomorrow that pays to send something and then lets me pay for a bike project.

Mono planar brake cable adjusters from Poland with the white rings for my mono planar brakes I bought on CL for < $45. So now I have a complete brake set plus a crank. Derailleurs are next.
When I bought the Pinarello, I was disappointed that it was clothed in DA except for the headset. The DA has worked out really well but the urge to try a more modern Campagnolo group has been nagging me.

I haven't gotten any mail delivered in the past week due to lingering snow, but FedEx managed to make it up the hill this morning with this delivery from @icepick_trotsky:

I hear you folks are getting some nasty freezing rain up there. Things are warming up, and just regular rain, down here in Salem.
