My best CL find in a while

Picked this up weeks ago off the local CL. I have no idea what it but Im guessing the frame is French or Custom and it has a great mix of parts.

Im just waiting to pick tires and bar tape then shes gonna be on the road.

A true 'diamond in the rough' if I've ever seen one. What kind of hubs are on it?

Very cool, very interesting! The fork crown looks British to me. The Phil hi-low is kinda rare, very nice parts mix!

Cheers,
Chris

Yeah, I'm thinking you're right. At first blush the overall bike strikes me as kind of French looking, but that fork crown photo makes me think British instead. It really stands out.

I have not had time to measure the post. The front drops are Shimano, and the rears are Simplex.

It's pretty eclectic; I don't know that much about IDing frames, but I'd guess it's French or American built.

I'm in the french camp on this one, front fork might be a replacement (hence the mismatched dropouts).

It would be interesting if that Phil bb is swiss threaded.

Kind of unusual to see multiple bottle braze ons and TT clamp on cable stops. Two different eras there (mid 1970s vs 1980s). Perhaps the bottle braze ons were an add on.

The front fork is a late 70's Tange from Japan, I have the same fork on my '77 Gitane Pacific. The bike looks Japanese made to me, likely 26.4 seatpost and English bottom bracket.
