I'd say a fried bologna sandwich is pretty C&V :)

I believe that was Siracha, yeah.

That's a nice looking plate. Now I have a hankering for pickled cauliflower.

C'mon, man!

You guys really need to quit copying & pasting Google images of exotic dishes and posting them in this Forum. Everyone knows that TRUE C & V aficionados eat Spaghetti-o's with Little Meatballs in Tomato Sauce, COLD... right out of the can. Add some Armour Vienna Sausages with cheap Saltines and you've got a C & V lunch old Fausto's mechanic would be honored to wolf down!

:p

I'll put it on the Russel Wright next time.

That's what I'm talking about! Here's how my family (originally from East TN) does it, with caramelized onions, mayo, and white bread.

Haha. No, I meant the contents rather than the platter.

I blame She Who Must Be Obeyed for my minimal China Recognition Skills.

leftthread, I'm right there with you on roasting veggies. The weather here in Nebraska for fall crops has been incredible to make up for the abysmally hot summer and the cornucopia from my daughter's farm and greenhouses is like a tsunami of goodness in my kitchen and I've been roasting anything I can cram into the oven. Please do use the Russel Wright next time--I've eaten countless meals with full Russel Wright service at my mother-in-law's, as part of the family tapestry.

You're very fortunate. :) I've lived in Seattle for about 20-odd years now, and I'm totally addicted to Asian foods in general, and teriyaki chicken in particular. There's an Asian supermarket, that sells teriyaki chicken subs, and they always have a long cucumber slice on it, roughly an 1/8th or 1/16th of a whole cuke sliced lengthwise. (drool drool) For normal sandwiches at home, everything's better on a cheesy-bagel. :D

Today's lunch is very classic, though it's not something I grew up with. Homemade pork liver pate and peach preserves, pickles, some leftover pimento cheese spread (spicy) and Dijon mustard.

Yum! Diggin' the bread, too. Homemade?

ColonelJLloyd 01-09-13 11:38 AM

I enjoy making bread, but I seldom bother with this stuff readily available.

nice. A frenchman just opened shop near my parents, and his bakings are the knees of bees. The cute petite french girls behind the counter almost make up for the bizarre pricing. He also bakes "paris brests" which has nothing to do with b00bs except sheer pleasure - it's a kind of pastry that originated somewhere along the route of the famous race. Seriously good stuff.
