My best C & V lunches are the leftovers from the night before...

but sometimes dinner is so good any hope of lunch is a goner...

^^ I can't see what's under the cheese, but those little pies look great!

This isn't exactly classic (or lunch for that matter,) but if you like hot sauce, this stuff is worth looking for.

I had to put a filter on the lens just to photograph it.

Should I start a thread for sharing ideas/recipes or just use this one?

I love to try new foods, love to cook, love nearly all vegetables and proteins (except bell pepper, cilantro and anything to do with lamb or goat), I have all the fancy tools (All-clad pans, Wusthof knifes, even a Peugeot pepper mill!--all gifts from my sister for birthdays/xmas) and a Food Hole, T-Joe's, and various ethnic markets all in walking distance. Yet I almost always end up eating junk. I wander the aisles and peruse cooking websites but have a hard time coming up with new dishes. I've perfected fajitas/tacos, roasted whole chicken and have a scratch made pasta sauce that can't be beat...I get pretty sick of those things and usually just end up eating pasta.

This thread and the "every day pics" thread have been good inspiration. Especially Justin and Richard, keep them coming!

Chris, we're huge fans of Melinda's in our house. Those little pies are just the perfect size to quarter and devour; everything between the sauce and the cheese--grass-fed organic ground beef, sweet onions, garlic, sweet red peppers and zucchini--came from my daughter's farm.

Not sure if recipe sharing is a good idea Alex, some mod might decide this thread belongs over in foo.:D

There was a nice C&V gathering in Amsterdam today, and the organisers even provided lunch. The most C&V of Dutch lunch choices: a cheese roll:

That looks very pretty, sounds good, and I'm trying to imagine what they taste like, but they somehow don't fit into my frame of reference. Guess I'll have to get to work and try to make them myself.

No pics but last week on vacation in Ocean City, NJ, I had a Campagnolo sandwich. No, really, it was on the menu that way. Mundane hot chicken w/red pepper on a roll, n big deal, but with that name I had to have one.

It's avocado season in S. Florida, and the tree is loaded. Pinto bean & avocado tostada:

My pleasure! ;)

This is a specialty of Porky's, a local restaurant. It makes for very good eating.

My wife's birthday was this weekend. Rather than going out to a fancy restaurant, she requested that I make some ribs. I was happy to oblige. These local, organic ribs were coated in a secret-recipe dry rub and then smoked for about 9 hours with a mix of apple & mesquite wood chips. Mmmmmmm.

I'm drooling all over my shirt, dammit!

I hope so, because the looking-at-it bit is well below par:

No Bintang for belanda? Nice sandwich btw, I looked all over Java for one of those! Only in Jakarta and on Bali did I find one. Rest was rice for breakfast, lunch, dinner...

Now that looks like a pretty decent way to pass the lunch hour! What are those fried thingies?

If only that darned pack of Marlboros wasn't ruining the picture....:twitchy: I smoked for too many years and still find myself fishing around for a cig after I finish up a good meal!!

Went for a haircut to Alina's, my 40ish Ukrainian Barberis. So nice today we had lunch out in front of the shop

Ha, sorr... I actually stopped smoking back home, but here it's so cheap and common. Btw the place is cafe baavia, central jkt and the fried thingies are nothing but harmless potatoes.

My wife made bonito sashimi yesterday. It was very good.
