Need help identifying this Bianchi

Hello!

This is my very first post and I was hoping if any of the C&V experts can help me out with a potential purchase.
The only information I could get from the seller is that it has SunTour components. He also doesn't know the model or year of the frame. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks!

Hello Sake, welcome to the forums. where are you and the bike the US? There really isn't enough info to go on in just that pic. more and closer pics may help. just a quick glance I could only narrow it down to '83 to 87ish jusdging by the decal style (and the DT one looks to have been replaced)

Can you get some info on the tubing type and the model of Suntour? maybe the cranks and brakes?

If this is a US market bike the fork could be a replacement, so i would check the headtube area for possible damage.

Bikes: 2008 Argon 18 Radon, 1990 Bianchi Brava

Hi Bianchigirll, thank you for the warm welcome.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to see the bike in person yet. I will be viewing the bike tomorrow. The seller's location is quite the drive and I was hoping to have enough info about the bike to make the purchase so I wouldn't have to make multiple trips, but it seems I'll be doing just that. The picture is the only one provided from his CL posting. I'm from Canada and I would assume it's a Canadian bike. I've been trying to do my own research on the forums and found a pic of the one shown below. It has similar features; DT decal, chrome fork and gum coloured hoods. Though the model is still a mystery :/ I sent the seller (yet) another message if he could tell me what model Suntour components and tubing type. Hopefully he'll get back to me soon. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for your help!

how far is quite a drive? The bikes look like different models to me but being in Canada would explain the chrome fork. Alot more Canadain bikes had them than American models.

what is the asking price? If it has been listed for a bit the seller may haggle a bit.

The drive is a little more than an hour. I don't mind mini road trips, it's finding the time outside my busy work schedule is proving to be difficult. The last thing I want to do after a long work day is sit in traffic for an hour+. That's the main reason I moved to the city, so I can walk/bike to work

Would there be some sort of 'Bianchi' stamp or sticker on the fork? He's asking $270, but has told me he is flexable. What would you appraise it at?

There might be a B on the crown but I am not sure since I have never seen a Canadain bike.

Unless it it has a Columbus tubing decal stay under $200. Does it fit?

Thanks for the info!

He listed it as a 23" (roughly 58cm), theoretically it will fit. Slightly larger than my Brava, which feels somewhat compact for me.

After sending the seller a barrage questions regarding the bike, I get this response:

"the derailler says DRX suntour while the brakes, and other components say only suntour"

That's it. You would think a seller would be a little more descriptive or at least answer the majority of my questions. It's like pulling teeth trying to get a response. "Do you not want to sell the bike!?" ...I digress.

It Looks a lot like the bike I bought my wife in 1984 The brakes are Shimano. The crank is possibly a Suguino or SR I no longer have that crank on her bike The Frame is straight Guage Hi-Mn Steel I put an SR Laprade seat post to replace the cheap post that came on the bike just like this one. Chrome Forks are original. I've been upgrading my wifes bike since I bought it

Its a nice enough bike it was in the $400.00 range new I would guess around $150.00 and not over $200.00 would be a fair price. I've only been upgrading it as parts from my bike are replaced she gets the better components off my bike. Also we did some Cycle Touring in the 80's so I had a Triple crankset and long cage RD as the initial upgrade on it.
