Bianchi ID?

Hi I was looking at this bike and been wanting to buy it the owner wants 250usd for it is it worth it? please help me Identify what model and year this bike is. It's in pretty bad shape but I think it can be restored it came in a shimano 600 group. thanks guys

I would stay clear of that one. The corrosion on that bike is quite significant. I would bet the seat post and stem are both frozen in the frame, and the components are pretty rough too. Honestly, it looks like it was pilled from the river. As for the model - I can't answer that. But I see what appears to be a silver Columbus decal, which is usually used on the lower end of their tubing line. It's a shame the bike went unloved for so long.
Bottom line - keep looking.

Bikes: Pinarello Veneto, Pinarello Montello, Bianchi Celeste

It seems like there's alot of oxidization and some corrosion. It was left somewhere in humid wets climates. I'd be weary on this one, you could prolly find nicer bikes for about 4-500 with less work required. It doesn't look like a high end frame, in the pic it looks like Columbus cromor to me.

My first question is if the bike is in the US why is there a chrome fork? I am with the others if the owner wants to give this to you it might be salvagable, but buying it and then throwing money into it would not be for me.

IN the US I would call that frame a '89-90 Campione de Italia built with Columbus CroMor tubing which as pointed out is a lowerend tube set. Perhaps at some point it was upgraded to the current 600 configuration and then left for dead.

I am with the others this is a really rough looking machine. If the stem and seatpost are not stuck and the cranks come off it would be a minor miracle. The every part would need to be taken completely apart cleaned and rebuilt. Unfortunately all the chromed nuts and bolts are rusted and pitted.

ive checked the bike the stem and seatpost and crank easily came off rust is more like on top of paint and has not dammaged the metal yet im thinking of repainting and overhauling the frame get new decals lots of work to be done which I like to keep me busy, the shimano group still works but I think Ill replace them with campy im looking for NOS groups also if guys have some Id be happy to check them out. Its kinda hard to look for a bianchi in celeste green in my size 53 all the frames out there are 55 up I think I'm biting this one. thanks for the ID guys. this will keep me busy in the coming months.

What kind of NOS Campi? If your lookign for something from the late '80s early '90s unless you find a takeoff Triomphe group at a decent price you are looking at maybe $600-700+ depending which group you want and what brakes. A C-Record NOS crank can fetch $200-300 easilt and Deltas or Cobaltos another 300.

Are you painting it? or sending it out? A profession paint will run around $400 if you want clearcoat over the decals. Then you need the correct Bianchi decals and the correct tubing decals, CroMor right?

Personally it is all up to you. It is your money and time but I personally would not sink money into a frame of that level to completley repaint it and then put a NOS campi group. If your really desperate for a Bianchi, buy this one, give it an acid bath and clean it best you can while you keep your eye out for something better.

a great 52/53ish SLX with Chrous bike just sold on ebay for like $300-350 something like that.

You're kidding yourself about the rust being on top of the paint. The only thing that rusts of the frame itself, is the underlying metal. So unless some solution with rust in it has been dripping on the frame, the frame itself is rusted. There's also appears to be lots of corrosion and pitting on the aluminum components and rust on the componet fittings. This will take lots of time and money to fix up, probably much more than it is worth. Too bad, because Cromor is good midrange tubing, the Ultegra is a great midrange group and that Gipiemme 416 wheelset is sweet.

hi bianchigirl yes Im planning to have it professionally painted, from where I live at it does not cost that much It might be a pain to look for correct decals though. Your probably right about putting NOS parts on this frame ill just go for used ones to revive this bike and look for a better Frame to put NOS parts on. You might know someone who has a 53 -54 bianchi in celeste green frame let me know Thanks for the advice.
