Showoff time - first build finished!

I've (nearly) finished my first ever bike build. Time to share some show-off pics Here's my starting point:

Fuji Grand Tourer 12-speed in pretty rough shape. It came with the original components, unattached and covered in rust/crud. I wanted a fun, unique commuter and to learn about fixing up bikes. So one month and a bucket of grease later...

Not perfect, but everything works! I still need to redo the shifter cables, get some rubber hoods on the brakes, but it's pretty darn close to done. Hooray!

Thanks! I've never tried friction shifting of any kind before... these seem to work okay and they're more intuitive for me than DT's would be, but I'd like to upgrade (bar ends?) at some point.

Bar ends tend to be cheap and I personally find them to be excellent. What kind of brake levers are those?

Dia Compe brakes. Looks like they used to have extension levers but someone popped 'm off.

Great job for a first build. With some white or maybe blue cable housings this bike would really pop add a color matching white or blue saddle like one of these that are fairly cheap and it would look near perfect.

It wasn't C&V at the time but aside from a crappy Pinarello and Geurciotti loaner my '90 MAX tubed Proto was the first bike I built up for myself.

It has had several minor redos I changed the retrofriction to DA index in '93ish, and it has had several different sets of primary wheels,a dn few different stems and post. This is how it looked at the begining of '09 I changed the post, stem, and saddle since then. I'll have to take a new pic and post it.

So then they still have the nubs for the safety levers? :/ As far as I can recall you're either going to have to butcher the lever or the hood, or maybe get new hoods with levers?

Bianchigirl, that's a pretty awesome bike. And obviously solid worksmanship, if you're still riding it!
