For your record; I own 147A, 1970 Fongers-RIH in Silver. Equipped with:

Mafac Dural brakes
Campagnolo dropouts
TWF head
No id on handlebar (tour)
Sugino cranks and bracket
Lyotard Berthet pedals
Brooks saddle
White Bluemel's
Spanninga lighting
Rest is missing.
All lightning is of the screw on type. No holes in frame.
The crank is a Sugino Mighty Comp with date stamp 45-3. That should be 1970, accordingvto vintage-trek. Some "know it alls" state it can't be any ealier than 1975.
Ok. Cool.
Got Campagnolo Record and Gran Sport (pre '77) group handy.
Might use that.
A link to the pics....

Thanks for posting your RIH, Rob! Much appreciated. Gave me a good reason to update the list in post # 1. Any chance of a picture?

I really like this paintjob :) love some detail pics on this one

Beacon1993 02-28-17 04:21 AM

sure thing. I will make some tmr or so. it has some nice details .... i could buy another one in the right size for my GF but you know money is always tight :D

at least I will try to get the framenumber for our database.

so about the age ... it has a strange mix of decal/number. the reynolds decals was used from 1982 on.... the Crank/Crank/front are nouvo record ....

I have a nice story about the bike. The ower was the son of Joop_Middelink (have a look at wikipedia). and I bought it from his grandson.

maybe i will buy the ladys bike as well. I have some pic. of it too.

I picked this one up, today.
http://i63.tinypic.com/102teo1.jpg
The owner told me the has been used in the 1978 Amstel Beer Team (amateurs).
It's a mix of first generation Shimano 600, the very rare 3 spoke crank, Shimano Crane RD, Shimano 500 hubs with Wolber Aubisque rims.
I have the idea it's a respray. Framenumber on lower head lug reads
1978 20

Nice find! Love the 600 cranks. Date code on the chainring and crank say April 1976, BTW. The Lambert levers are an odd choice.

Closer looks shows the serial should be 147A. Sorry for that. I made a link to an album
1970 RIH ratbike

Thanks. No problem. I'll update the list. It's a pretty bike, and it should clean up beautifully!

nishikiroadace 03-19-17 04:57 AM

Soooo............. here's another one with some weird features. This is an early Venlo RIH, but no type name or framenumber.
Shimano 600 FD and shifters, Suntour long cage RD for big cogwheel
Weinmann 605 brakes and levers
SR cranks
SR stem and handlebar
SR seatpost
Normandy hubs
Weinmann dished rims
Maillard pinion
Reynolds 531 frame and forks.
Cream white with light blue metallic ball head tube

http://i67.tinypic.com/zxo76o.jpg
No framenumber to be found. Says Bustraan Holland, so it's a Venlo built bike. Cranks read 1977, but rims and hubs are 1972.

nishikiroadace 03-19-17 08:06 AM

Confirmation for Amsterdam yearcode on lower head lug.
http://i68.tinypic.com/98rosk.jpg

1991 RIH Competition track bike.... for the database.

Thanks for the heads-up, wolfhardt! Serial numbering changed after Wim van der Kaaij took over at RIH, the new format starting either with YYserial ot MYYserial. I've seen both.

Or YYYY.serial..... 1978.20 or 1991.22

I've found out from (the new) RIH that it was built in 1973 and was most probably finished in RIH red.

I restored this bike about a year ago and have finally got round to posting some pics.

However the site won't allow me to post any URLs until I have submitted at least 10 posts.

I picked up this 1980 - '81 RIH Elan. Built in Venlo, number on the bracket is 890504. A RIH55 frame. Has Shimano Altus derry's, Tourney brakes, Shimano hubs and Weinmann rims.
One hubs dates to 1980, the other to 78, crank possibly '79.
Crank was made by Solida. It's Waiting for some TLC, although it does look very good as it is now.

Haven't found a framenumber yet, nor a type. Guess they called it the RIH Luxe, later on. Shimano 600, Venlo built for sure.

This looks to be an Austrian RIH, from 'Radsport RIH' in Vienna. Not related to the Amsterdam brand. Check out this post for some more information. It is an interesting bike, BTW. Feel free to post a nice big drive-side picture here. :)
