Here it is, I was waiting for an opportunity to shoot them with a more inspiring background but these will have to do.
The blue Rih went to a girl that posted an ad on marktplaats specifically asking for a Rih in that size so I think it has found a good home

I bought this copper/celeste coloured frame together with the crankset which already had this celeste infill and the celeste cage.

Finished with nuovo record and a pretty Ideale saddle and it is nr 9082

Beautiful! That celeste/copper combo is interesting, but it works great. The only minor point is that the infills are a bit too green. The saddle is amazing as well.

Yes, great colour combo. No fan of the modernish tape and cage. Would try to find period correct substitutes for that.

Newbaum makes Celeste. Wrap it from the center of the bars down to the drops, no tape end tape.

I have just been playing with this colour combo, no real fan of this corktape myself as the colour turned out is to light compared to the rest and it is to newish for this bike indeed.
I had also seen that Celeste Newbaums indeed as a good altenative.
As soon as I find a reasonable way of getting it to Europe (probably when one of my friends make the trip from *******) I will certainly look for an upgrade, no hurry as it is not readily available in Europe apparently. :)

The cage is yet to be decided. I actually like it but I see your point Mel.

I am not quite ready with it anyway as I thought the ride felt unstable compared to the blue Rih's i have/had for instance.

As a first test I will try it out with another set of wheels to see if that makes the difference.

Wauw, pullup, this bike looks like new. Must say an interesting colour combination, but it looks fresh.

Unfortunately you can't see much of the bike. But as you can see the colour is gold. Wim van der Kaaij told me that there were some problems with that colour, that it would not stick very good. These days the paints are much better.

That, sir, is one of the nicest pictures I've seen on this forum in a long while. Thanks for sharing it. I'm revising my opinion on the repaint. It would indeed be very cool to restore it.

Got the following parts and some of them are already on the RIH.

Dura Ace PD-7401 pedals
Dura Ace BR-7403 brakes
Dura Ace 7400 hubs with Mavic open 4 CD rims
Dura Ace ST-7400 shifters

Today a customer came in the store and he has a RIH model Campagnolo with serial number 83125. Which build year could this RIH be?

125th build from 1983 would be a good guess. Sometime after he took over, Wim van der Kaaij introduced a new numbering system, where the serial number is preceded by a date. I've seen YYserial and MYYserial.

BTW, did you tell the customer to come here and show his bike? :)

I have done my best to be able to use it while i am coaching and that is why I have tried to build it with the bars so high.

The saddle is totally stuck and seem to have been rammed into the frame once and/or the frame is damaged while trying to get the post out by the former owner :twitchy: :notamused:

Unortunatly I had traveled a long way to get the bike, noticed this post when I arrived of course, but decided to bring it home anyway as I needed a city bike and it looked easily safe enough to ride. :o

Classiest coaching bike on the Bosbaan, I'm sure. Too bad about the seat post. The color is beautiful.

Welcome to C&V! Yes, pictures would be great. And check for a serial number while you're at it. It's probably either on the lower head tube lug or on the BB shell.

Alright yallz, I need your help confirming the identity of a bike I picked up today. Serial on lower head tube lug (157 H). From what I've read, my guess is that it's a Fongers from 1968. Below is a list of the parts.

1968 Fongers RIH seems right. Should polish up nicely! Have you got a picture of the entire bike?

A friend of mine who deals in heating equipment in the Amsterdam area told me last weekend over a beer that "an old geezer" had visited his shop looking for some brazing tools for his "bicycle workshop". He immediately ID'd Wim van der Kaaij from a picture I showed him. Something's up in Amsterdam-Noord!
