Gitane 97 tandem Front Derailleur suggestions
Ok I'm done searching the internet and now this newbie is relying on you. I have a tandem Gitane from '97 that is all French threaded and stuff. I worked through most of the problems but one I haven't been able to overcome is the front derailleur for a triple 54 46 32 with a seat post that is 28.6mm. I bought a Dura-ace 7803 with what I thought was the right specs but the center chain ring is so large that these deep inside cages would make the FD sit so high to clear it.. it doesn't look right and I'm not willing to scratch it all up before asking. Am I missing something? Remember, I didn't choose this triple combination - blame the French!
Seems like the campy triple FD might work but I would need an adapter for the 28.6 (which I was trying to avoid)? So please set me straight 'cause I'm pissed at the French right now I can't even see straight... and their part of my heritage.
Any other suggestion on a FD more economical that might work?
