Bikes: Still a garage full

I sent my aging folks in NJ a McGiver kit, in case they lose power, via Fedex. However, with the airports iffy, I probably should have sent it Fedex Ground. 1000 watt inverter, 750 gph 12V bilge pump, some hose hookups.

After Irene, my sister and I offered to get them a whole house pedestal generator, but dad said, in 49 years of living in West Caldwell, this was their first 4 day power outage and they'd never get another 100 year storm event.

We'll see............

Generac stock could rise.

Repairs will be the new stimulus.

Insurance will become the new entitlement.

Have another beer.

I hope everyone else on the east coast is doing better than I. while I am high and dry on the second floor we lost power here in Bordentown NJ about 10min ago. While I was mixing a "Blackout" cocktail I noticed some eeriy flashing blue lights to the north. I hope that isn't a sign of a long power outage.

I guess when the battery on the laptop dies it will be bedtime.

Power went off here in the NH mountains about 7:00 pm. Kept 3 freewheels from receiving the full Spa treatment.

Winds gusting to 50mph. Such fun!

We've been getting rain all day long with the heavier stuff arriving around noon time. The wind picked up about that time too and it's been blowing about 30-35 MPH with gusts of about 50-55 MPH. My kitchen ceiling is leaking, though I thought the leak I had was repaired since it hadn't leaked all summer long. Electric is still on, though I'm questioning whether it will remain so as the night wears on.

First things I did after the power outage was light another candle and mix a Cosmo

I'll have to drive about in the AM and charge the laptop and phone batteries.

Seriously, hope everyone comes through alive and kickin', and you don't lose power for too long. Take care.
You know speaking of Gulf states I did ride out katrina in near Meridian MS in the big truck, but that is a story for another day.

NYC is really getting the brunt of Sandy. The subways are flooded and there are transformers exploding all over the place.

Here is a shot of Manhatten taken at about 9pm E.S.T.

I hope everyone stays safe. Be very careful when going outside after the storm passes, downed electrical lines have killed more people than the storm itself. Getting food and water will be a problem for many. I will say a prayer tonight.

Stay safe, Jet and others. Spent the day in the studio pulling together a book. Lotsa rain, a little wind, a few flickers in the power. Everything in RVA shut down. Os Mutantes and Shuggie Otis on the hifi. Kinda pleasant day as long as you're inside.

I am in Toronto, was just re-posting that photo from another forum. We are getting hit tomorrow but it won't be a lot of rain but we are expecting very high winds. I will stay safe though, thanks

I found this pic really cool, it is an image taken from radar of air traffic for this evening:

The STORM... (OT)

I lost power at 9:18 ET. The wind picked up and the whole town lost power including a friend about who lives about 3 miles from me. From my perspective, it's now officially an adventure.

That's an amazing arc in the video! It would be interesting to see what the damage in the electrical yard looks like after the smoke clears... Stay safe everyone!

Been out of power for almost 10 hours. Big limb down in the back yard but otherwise ok. Seems to be getting tamer outside.

Power is the issue, so I'm hoping you have it, or have it back soon.

Here in Toronto we are feeling some of the effects of the hurricane. It's 2 am and still super windy out plus some rain

Bikes: Many

If the storm came through southern VT, it must have been tired of beating on NJ/NY/MD and left us alone this time.

I think the Mid-Hudson Valley kinda missed the brunt of this. Seemingly very little wind and wind that didn't even make my house creak and moan like Irene. Still though, with the full moon, flooding is happening

Central Park will be a mess. Thoses old growth trees are going to suffer the worst.
