Some of you may remember the frame set that Fender1 had, that Kurt had ,and then I got. It had a stuck fixed cup so I got it at a bargain price. Here are some pics right out of my home made paint booth. Paint materials were bought from https://www.hyper-formance.com/paints.htm. I Painted the frame set in Flambouyant Red. It's a bit over cast today so it looks darker than it is. WHen the sun is out the paint really brightens up shines with a deep fine metal flake to it. I hope it came out ok.










It will get decals and a full Super Record Group next week.

Very nice, MA. I also wound up doing a strip, prime, and home repaint myself on a 72 Paramount a few weeks ago. The auto paint store I deal with did a computer match on the yellow and I think it came out pretty close. I also wound up recreating the graphics from scratch and having a printer I do a lot of business with produce the decals for me. I really rather like the early 70's era Paramounts.



Absolutely nothing period- or component-correct about mine though!

Michael Angelo, what did you think of the paint? Once or twice I considered buying some for a project but never did. Did you use your own spray equipment or get the paint in rattle cans?

It's automotive paint loaded in cans. I chose that over mixing my own, due to the fact I do not know what Schwinn paint supposed to look like. It went on really well, from the primer to the Silver base coat. Two coats of red and two coats of clear. It's been about 10 hours and the paint is hard to the touch. Not like you would get from regular rattle can junk.

Did you have them add a hardening agent? It makes a real difference in durability, but you've got to be ready to spray soon after the cans are prepared.

I can tell you the paint is very hard at this point. Urethane Automotive paint loaded in a paint can. It said to shake the can for at least 2 minutes. I hope it lasts.

The most difficult job was prep. I sanded the frame and fork, also used a small fine wire wheel. The frame went to Mike Terraferma and had the seat post bolt lug back filled with silver, only cause previous owners were a bit ham fisted. Taping the Nervex Lugs was a PITA. Cutting the tape so it curves around the details of the lugs was next to impossible.

Mike I like! Too bad we can't get it next to my '71 to see how the new Flamboyant Red matches with vintage Flamboyant Red. I'm certain it is missing the crackling.

The Chrome on yours is much better. The Fork crown on mine has a few specks, nothing that can't be delt with. Stripping the donor bike today, sad to see it go but it's too big,(1978 Competition).

I am soooo tempted to out line the lugs....must resist...

But that thin white lug lining - just offset from the chrome, right? - against the red looks SO elegant. I'd love to be able to do that myself. I've got a pretty steady hand but wouldn't trust myself to get something like that right. Very, very nice.

Nice work! Glad it went to a home where somebody knows Italian cups thread the other way!

The bottom bracket was pretty straight foward, Italian cups with and english spindle, Came out perfect
I just finished removing the tape from the frame and fork, cleaning the lugs and putting on the paint separation stripes on the chrome. Also installed the headset and fork. Tomorrow the down tube decals and seat tube stripes.
