Can anyone help ID this Peugeot? 1988-1990
Hello hello! I have long been an admirer of Peugeot road bikes and I am now the proud owner of one. Does anyone have any idea about how I can go about IDing her? I have seen the huge expertise on this site put to good use before!
This much I know:
- From the decals is looks to be '88-'90
- The tubing is Reynolds 531
- Components are Shimano RX 100
- On the bottom bracket there is a stamp (serial number?) that either says 89 00⅄ or Y00 68
Photos here: https://samjamead.wordpress.com/2012/12/23/peugeotid/
If anyone knows anything or if I have missed any vital observations please let me know!
Thanks in advance, Sam

What does it say on the top tube?
Edit - never mind, "hand brazed"

Mais oui, c'est 'Peufection' as they said in the 80's catalogues!!
Love the geometry but not sold on the paintwork... Considering a re-vamp, not before I figure out what Model it is though!

It looks like a light serial number stamp as there should be more between the 'Y00' and '89'. Note the frame decal says 'frame tubes' and there's no Reynolds decal on th fork, I'll venture a guess and say its a 3 tube Reynolds bike with cro-mo stays and fork.
Could be A French model as well.

So I went back for another look and I'm terribly embarrassed to say that I had completely missed two decals! One on the chain-stay that says 'Made in France', and the second on the top tube saying 'Optima'.
So - is that the mystery solved? I looked back through the catalogues but couldn't see a specific Optima model...

Samjamead, which country are you in/ did you buy the bike in? The frame looks familiar and I'm wondering if it's a UK or French model...........

Im in the UK - I picked up the bike in Jersey from a chap who spends a lot of time in France. I asked him once before but he didn't seem to know too much about it, I'll have to try him again!
