Motobecane Sidecar?

This popped up on CL. Seems liek $250 could be a a fantastic buy or a ripoff. I've never seen anythine quite like this before...I'm tempted to buy it for my moped

Bikes: blue ones.

Steep price, probably no relation to motobecane, but very cool nonetheless. Shame the matching cruiser isn't jncluded.

Lousy idea for a bicycle. The car drivers get PO'd enough already. This dramatically increases the amount of lane you take up and slows you down to the point where you can't keep up with traffic. Maybe OK on a moped, depending on how much much tou have and how much extra weight you're carrying.

I think it's great. The price is more than I'd like to spend, but I would probably buy this in a heartbeat if it were in my neck of the woods. My daughter would love riding in that thing.

Bikes: Two wheeled ones

It's so unique that I'd buy it just for spectacle factor. I'd be very careful about when and where I rode it so as to minimize annoying other traffic.

I'm picturing it as a side car to this:

Is that yours? If so I think I saw it parked at the Italian market. I wanted to see who was riding that crazy machine but I had to get somewhere.

Yep. I wanted to hang around a bit but had to go pickup someone. It was a very cool looking ride, the sidecar would go well.

The little side cars had a time in England, this one belongs to a forum member and was sold recently, for a lot more than the $250 asked for on the CL. Can't remember who's it was, maybe they will offer some insight. Anyway, I think it would be a blast!

Bikes: A few

Yea, I caught that one on Craigslist tonight. It's down the road from me, say 2 hrs away. Didn't interest me but it was cool to look at.

The point being that someone stuck that sticker on the sidecar, and Motobecane had nothing to do with making the sidecar.

It's probably French thread, so parts will be difficult to find.

Does anyone know when Motobecane switched to ISO sidecars?

i wonder if they ever made sidecars for their motorcycles and motor scooters/mopeds.

i saw a guy here in seattle one day riding his bicycle with a side car. it looked rather precarious. he was in the bike lane going over the fremont bridge with traffic going the other way -- not a good idea. (even though there is a bike/walk lane on each side of the bridge, riders go the wrong way in both all the time.) the side car is a great way to stop traffic and piss off just about everyone.

Aaron,

If you add a sidecar to the triplet you know this means you will have two children! Better get busy!

No, no, no, no. NO. Can't have this kind of misinformation out there.

Look at the decals. This is clearly from the time when Motobecane was using SWISS thread components.

Jeesh.

God I am a hopeless nerd.
