L583 - A clue as to the age of my bike?
I have a 1980's something Colnago Nuovo Mexico (I think). I just noticed that on the outside of the right rear Campy dropout is stamped L583. Could this mean it was built in May of 1983? It can't be that simple, can it?

If the bike is fitted with original components, and those are Campy Record, just pop the lock nut off of the rear hub. There will be a two digit number there indicating year of hub manufacture, and probable the same vintage as the bike.
