Please help identify this frame.

Hi Guys,

i have some pics of a frame that is marketed as a Pinarello frame with Columbus SLX tubes. Since i have only limited expertise in the field of steel frames, could you please help me identify the frame and fork? I doubt it being a Pinarello frame, because there are no GPT logos/panos on the frame. There is this big K on the fork and this other symbol on the seat stays where they connect to the seat tube.

Many thanks in advance!

I think you're right to suspect this, but I don't recognize the "K" as being any familiar brand, and "K" is a letter rarely used in Italian. Since you can do it, check in the BB shell up the seat and down tubes for spiral ridges in the base of those: that's what SLX should have, otherwise that SLX stamping and decal might also be fake. Seems like a nice frame, regardless of brand.

Carnielli stamped the tubeset of the bottom brackets of the Bottecchia frames that they built. I wonder if this could be another Carnielli brand?

Thanks so far, guys!

I got some more infos from the seller. This frame was build for a austrian importer/seller of pinarello frames, who lived kinda next door to the seller. The 'K' panto on both fork and seat stay was made for him as his initial. The frame does look like a Pinarello Maxim but is said to be made of Columbus SLX (New). I can't check the reinforcements/ridges, I do not have the frame yet, but thanks for the hint! Maxims do seem to have painted stays and fork, this one is chromed though (-> personalized). The overall paint scheme is the one of a Maxim though. The BB is said to be from Cinelli. The decals where put on later, the original owner wanted his frame to be without stickers.

Cheers

Beautiful frame! If it's priced decent I'd get it.

Great frame and fork but I doubt its a Pinarello. Just a quess custume repaint likely from none bike guy who is first rate but was told missinfomed it was a Pinarello. Looks top end Japnese to me maybe I'm wrong.

With Cinelli BB shell & Campy dropouts, I REALLY don't think it's Japanese. I agree with Kactus, I'd take a chance, if the price is right. Even if it was proven to NOT be a Pinarello, it's probably still Italian, & still very possibly a sweet frame.

Bikes: 1986 Alan Record Carbonio, 1985 Vitus Plus Carbone 7, 1984 Peugeot PSV, 1972 Line Seeker, 1986(est.) Medici Aerodynamic (Project), 1985(est.) Peugeot PY10FC

I guess it a pretty good buy at that price for an NOS SLX frameset..
Heck, If that was my frameset, I'd be tempted to just take off the Pinarello decals if they were not clear coated over and design myself a new set saying "Klosch" on them to match the pantographing on the frame.

If it's SLX like the sticker says (I doubt anyone used a Cinelli BB and Campy dropouts on a gas pipe frame), I think you did very good.

I finally received the frame, its really nice! It is indeed a SLX since it does have the ridges in the tubes. Now I just have to build it up. I will take the Shimano 600 off my Peugeot Galibier first and then switch over to Campagnolo later
