Cenilli Creterium Bar question.

This may seem like a silly question but just would like to get some clarifaction. I have a set of likely 80' Cenilli bars that I have put up for sale Model 65-38. I'm unclear as to the actual bar size when I measure them they measure about 40mm outside end to end on the bars which I would consider 40mm yet the Cenilli model number indicates that they are 38mm. I'm just interested as to how Cenilli defines these as 38's.

Bikes: many

cinelli (and other brands) measures bars center to center.
also note that the 65s (criteriums) ave an inward bend on the hooks to that makes them feel smaller than they look.
