Bikes: 81 Ross T.K., 89 Merlin mtn.

I think of it as the anti- Paramount. It would be cool to send it back to Spectrum for a repaint / restore, then build with the original type NR group and tubulars, with the 7400 and tubs it was 20.5 lbs, with pedals

Bikes: Too many Bicycles to list

I would love a all Chrome Ross MTB to add to my collection, when I was a teen & wasn't into bikes like I am now ( hey I had a car, motorcycle & a girl, why would I be LOL) my neighbor threw out a 22 or 23" all chrome Ross MTB with Bullmoose bars on it that was covered in red paint, I kept it for a few years in hopes my Uncle would want it as he road a tall bike but after that I just let the local scrap guy take it & I have been kicking myself ever since I found out what I could have had.

ps safe bet Curtis knew exactly what you have. Others, maybe not so. Many folks are shocked at the above three, let alone yours.

The Ross was plucked from a refuse bin. It was not dropped off at the Dump, nor was it donated to Bikes for Humanity.

Anyway, here is a picture of the bike, as found, with no wheel and one, or so, with a wheel (incorrect one) installed just for looks sake...

Bikes: I used to have many. And I Will again.

Look at those chainstays! Congrats Randy, on a rare find. It's in excellent shape, and it's unusual to see a Ross made it up to Thunderbay. Rosses were one of the popular brands during the 70s in NYC. Peugeot would be a competing brand with higher offerings. These chromed hand made mtbs weren't seen though.

Bikes: Two wheeled ones

A neighbor has one left outside all year - I posted photos of it once. It's a beaut.

^ Looks like a Mt. hood, missing some it's original bars, which sucks, but hey, the price was right! Actually looks pretty good, I had a similar Mongoose a while ago, and ot made a great single speeder

the low BB and the laid back seat tube give that impression, but actually it measures 59.5 c-c st, 57 tt. By comparison my new shark has a 60 tt, and a better fit.

Rivendell has replacement bull moose bars for it.

Congrats on another nice score, Randy. That one is a keeper, even if you need to build another shed.

Randy,

Throw a chain on that bike and give it a test ride. It sure looks like a Mt. Hood. I bought one for my wife in 1985 and a Nishiki for myself because the Nishiki felt a little more relaxed. Four years later, a friend offered to sell me his '85 Hood and I snapped it up. It has been my trail bike of choice since then. Definitely a quality bike that deserves a good home. Ironically, the guy that sold me mine has said if I decide to unload it, he wants first chance to buy it back. He's going to have a long wait.

Those Rivendell bars are nice, but expensive. There are usually a few used bullmoose bars on Ebay at any given time. Prices average around $30.

A touch small for me, though rideable. Like KAS, this is one of my real grail(ish) bikes.

IMO, your price (500) is a bit low. But I am biased. At 62cm, I would drop five on one in a heartbeat.

The total price of my three is >100$, and I am cheap, but I'd go higher for one of those.

This thread has been great. I'm from Allentown; grew up there and go back to see family several times a year. The prospect of owning a classic bike made there is exciting. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for a Signature Series road frame to possible build up.

You do that-You won't be sorry. Great bikes, far better than the Eurosports and such at the bottom of the line.

Here's a smaller 294s on the State College, PA CL - https://pennstate.craigslist.org/bik/3809949136.html
That was actually posted on the fall for $350, he wants $275 npw, but would prob. deal looks full Triomphe with S.R. rear der.

Poguemahone - if it were a 62, it would be perfect for me, too. That's part of the problem, it's only a little too small, I guess a Technomic stem and a layback post might help, but the post is 27.4 (? Bold Ti$$), and I just don't like the looks of the big long stems, IDK

I have bought two pairs of NOS bars from this seller on Ebay ( plus other things), he has a ton of them & both times no one bid against me so I got them for the starting price, he has/gets a lot of nice NOS parts and doesn't gRAPE you for them like the other sellers do.https://www.ebay.com/itm/Very-Cool-NO...item43bbef4e35

Glenn

EDIT, The bars I got were full size Bullmoose bars not the mini's he is selling, but I will leave the link as he may have more.

I reached out to him since it's my size. We'll see. I did some looking around and saw that maybe that year would have already been sourced to Taiwan and not built in Allentown. It makes no difference really, but one of the reasons I would want it is because it would have been built very near where I was probably playing with fire in the local park (at that time of course).

Is there any way to tell where it was built?

There often will be a small, almost miniscule "Made in Taiwan" sticker near the base of the seat tube, directly above the bottom bracket,IIRC.

I bought this Mt. Hood a few months ago. I am pretty sure that it is either an '83 or '84. It still had the original tires and brake pads on it, but I am not so sure about the Sugino 52x42 crankset.

That's a really beautiful bike, WFRTony. The tires really work well with its look.

I have not even taken the Ross down off of its hook since I took the pictures, but, as promised, here are a few shots of the "as found" Ross. I do like the bike and it will get built up this Summer. Anyway, my Ross...

Since I took those pictures I found the correct front wheel for the bike. Now it is complete and does not appear to be too far away from being road worthy.

Man I'm so jealous. I've been looking for one in my size for a long time.

The last two I've looked at have asked way too much and both referenced the god-danged bbc as a price source. I wish that shop would die.
