Help identify my Motobecane

Aloha, I was at my goodwill and found an old motobecane for 30 bucks. I bought it with everything working on the bike. It says Tour de France on the top tube and *Ten Speed* on the down tube. Furthermore it has dia compe brakes with original rims from Norway. Serial number is 609 M. If you need any more information just ask. My best guess is it's from the 80s but I would like to know an exact year or close to. Thanks.

'tour de france' doesn't ring a bell in moto's vintage line. you might want to provide pics if more responses are wanted. also, check the catalogs here: https://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/Motobecane/

Here's the link to the pictures. Don't ask questions about my website. It's only a humble micronation.

Good job on the ID BillNuke1!

Now I know how the just retired Los Angeles Goodwill CEO gets paid over $1.0 Million. You paid $30 for that? OMG!

I love Motos, but I believe they should have paid you to haul it off. Have fun with it! Can't wait to see the after photos!

Remove the stem and polish it to a high shine, and you'll make your money back.,,,,BD

EDIT: By selling just the stem I meant.

EDIT again: And yes, the fiero disguised as a ferrari is a reality, lol!

That's kind of an interesting head badge though. If you happen to remove it, please don't toss it. I'd love to have it.

Not exactly. Motobecane were imported by Ben Lawee and had Motobecane manufactrure Astra as his house brand. Unfortunately, I can't access your link but in all probability it's likely equivalnent to one of the entry level Moto models, except in decals. Obviously the headbadge was a factory error. Now if this were some other vintage product, that sort of faux pas would escalate the value.

More like a Yugo disguised as a Fiero. Do you have a boat in need of an anchor ?

Those humungous Huret shifters might be worth a little something too. But in general it's a low-end bike in rough shape. I'd remove the shifters, stem, brakes, and hubs, and recycle the rest.

Yah it doesn't look anything like the real motobecane head badge does it? It's made of a thin plastic or something.

Alright, update time everybody. I put new tape on the bars, cleaned up some rust, did a little tlc and sold it for 50$. I profited ten dollars off the bike. Good luck to the guy who bought it.

We all have to start somewhere. Welcome to the official Vintage Bike Flippers Union. Many on here did what you just did and kept moving up to nicer bikes.
You just paid your dues.
